I hope we send the Heat to the 9th seed like they deserve tomorrow. I could see them struggling to make the playoffs.

Who wants that? I mean sure, he would do well in Minny. But one of the league's worst teams saying we won't include our top 3 players (I mean really, not even DLo???) Really makes it a moot point.

PHI almost took the same package earlier in the off-season with Rubio instead of Beverly but couldn't agree on pick compensation.

CJ McCollum publicly: Lillard would tell me if he wanted me gone.
CJ McCollum privately: Why does Lillard keep mentioning players that I would be traded out for, he must want me gone.

I'll be curious to see what kind of trades Indy pulls off. I think he's a little bit overrated but there's a lot of teams who should be after Myles Turner.

Myles Turner would be so sexy on this team. It's a shame there's probably a less than 1% chance of that happening.

Same and we do make a lot of sense for him as a fit. But I don't think we match as a trade partner all that well due to no good young players besides injured and due new contract DDV and our lack of 1sts. Who knows, maybe our good relationship with Ind in the past will help make something happen as he'd be a good long term replacement for Brook.
Resident Lillard truther since 2015.

That Pacers team always feels like they should be better, they have a good amount of talent.

This is about 1-2 years too late for Indy. Book is out on Sabonis and he's the modern day David Lee. They'll still get a nice pick or two for Turner, but I'll never understand why people keep treating LeVert as a valuable young player when he's neither that (27 years old), durable, nor efficient.

Lot of guys who are probably perceived to be better than they actually are. If they had a legit top 10 guy they are probably a contender.

This makes their offseason all the more weirder though. Did 62-year old Rick Carlisle really sign up for a rebuilding team? They're 10-16 with the point differential of a classic treadmill squad (13th), i.e. basically right where everyone thought they'd be. They drafted a 24-year old with their lottery pick. What exactly were the expectations here?

87 year old Herb Simon and Carlisle both probably agree there should be a short term rebuild, as indicated in The Athletic article.

Bet they plan to get one top pick and make a few trades for young scrappy roll players with potential and suddenly they can make an all out assault on the play in tournament at least by next year.

I know the NBA fan meta is champion contender or burn it to the ground rebuild and anything in-between is dumb and scorn worthy but Indi has enough talent where I don't think they need to enter some 5+ year scorched earth rebuild. Their problem is health and the fact their best players don't really fit together. One of Turner or Sabonis should have been traded already and LaVert should probably go he's never really worked for them (and is just generally overrated).

Portland should really trade Lillard. Reading that he wants a 2 year $100m extension that'd have the Blazers paying him $50m at age 36 is grim. They've had a good run but they're going no where and will get no where in Portland. Take Simmons and some picks and start again.

Curious if Sixers would take Turner + Levert + pick for Simmons

Don't understand the people criticizing Lillard for any of this. He's basically pulling the opposite of what guys like Lebron/KD did and saying he's willing to commit the rest of his career there (he's already signed for the next 4 years), just so long as they do what we all have been saying that franchise should have done years ago, and shakeup what clearly hasn't been working.

Pretty simple for me if I'm the new Portland GM. Tell Morey he can have McCollum plus whatever picks and swaps for Simmons, or kick rocks and enjoy his disgruntled "star" sitting at home. Portland has all their draft assets anyways, so I'd be comfortable making some minor moves at the deadline while saving my picks for the Godfather type offer to get the next available All-Star type dude, ala Jrue.
