He's not. Last numbers I know are ~260. He's not Chet. He's been adding muscle every year. He's got a great frame to tack on lots of muscle. He'll fill out just fine.

That doesn't help him from the perspective of what I go on to lay out. But thanks for the update :P

man ESPN is just the worst

the broadcast cut out with like 6 mins left and the ignite up like 8

Wemby is up to 34/10 and they have taken the lead with 2 mins left

He’s the highest upside prospect since LeBron, legit GOAT level ceiling. That being said the injury concerns with his combo of frame + movement/play style are very real, hopefully he’s a total outlier not just in talent but in durability at that size too.

Zero percent chance this is true. I mean, he may get there (Gobert's listed at 258), but no way.

I just don't understand the mechanics of how a guy that size can move like that.

I'm not sure what's more crazy/impressive out of the expansion in his skills and how much size he's put on in a year. I think he's way closer to Giannis than Chet in body composition and potential. If anything he looks a year ahead of where Giannis was in muscle development.

He's like if Giannis and KD morphed together, then grew another 4 inches.

While riding this high, are we positive we need to add "since lebron". Lebron was more polished and definitely a higher floor, but highest upside might have to go to Victor. He looks like the video game player I created 15 years ago where you could have a 7'1" with a jumper.....but he's even taller.

I don't see Wemby's ceiling, high as it is, being near LeBron's and LeBon's was GOAT since he was a high school junior. I've seen people calling Wemby Durant with 4 inches, or Giannis with a jumper, but he's not that kind of athlete.

I first said this about 10 years ago about some other guy, dude aint your regular skinny, this is a kid who never got a chance to build up because he was constantly stretching out. Look at those already developing bicep/triceps. We're not looking at a Bradely/Bol /Holgrem/whatever. Dude is going to fill out.

Yeah, he's got the Kareem body type so I have no worries about him putting on actual muscle. But people probably need to slow down on both the athleticism comps (he's not some freakish outlier explosive guy) as well as the shooting comps (Durant was already a 47/40/81 splits guy at the same age while Wemby just finished the Pro-A league year shooting 47/26/70). But of course, it's hard to not watch these last two games and not extrapolate out what he could theoretically do/become. He may arguably be the highest ceiling prospect ever, but that's a little different from saying he's a Top-5 overall prospect ever.

Think Victor’s body is a better to stay healthy than Chet, Thon or Bol. That said, would like to compare measurements of proportional leg length, knee size, etc of Wembanyama versus say Kareem or KG or Giannis.

When you look at Wembanyama, he’s got a massively long torso and arms. That presents a ton of torque and physical load on the knees, ankles and feet. Can envision him having an awesome first couple years, before some ligaments tear. Would love Jez opinion on this.

Yeah he's definitely not chet skinny. Other than normal adult filling out I don't think he should really try to get too much bulkier, that adds stress to his legs.

Body type similarities aside, it’s the unblockable shot that I’m thinking of. I mean I don’t watch a lot of fiba ball but you can grab the ball off the rim right? So can wemby just stand in front of the rim and catch 3pt shots all game like a soccer goalie?

Nope, if the ball is going down towards the rim from a shot attempt and you mess with it, it's a violation.
You can legally interfere with it only after it touches the rim.
