Game 63: Sixers at Bucks - 3/4/23 - 7:30 - ABC

We've split the first 2 against the Sixers, both in Philly. First game (opening night) we won without Khris, Ingles, Pat. Second game we lost without Khris, Ingles, Pat and Wes but the Sixers were without Harden and Harris. MarJon started that game (and was terrible).
We play the 4th game against them in April.
Front end of a B2B (at Washington Sunday night).
Both teams should be at full strength (Wes is unknown). Sixers have flaws but are a good team. A 16 game streak on national TV will be motivation for both teams.
A Bucks win will be little noticed. A Sixers win will be "SIXERS SNAP BUCKS STREAK, SHOW THEY ARE CONTENDERS!"
Let's keep it going.

Bucks win would put us up 6 over Philly with 19 games left. Pretty much would be a lock for a top 2 seed at that point. (Philly would be 5.5 behind the Celtics and closer to falling to the 5th seed behind the red hot Knicks...That would be great)
Interesting that Lowe used the Bucks / Celtics series as a spark for us fighting for the one seed this year. He made it sound like he had inside knowledge that the Bucks regretted not getting the one seed once they realized it was a competitive series. I have no idea if he was just projecting his own thoughts or if that is actually true. (The series actually is horrible example of importance of HCA vs health). We do seem to be fighting more but could just be to keep the streak alive.

Team missed out on a great opportunity. Ladder bobble head game would've brought out the crowd.

Rip on Philadelphia all you want, but say a disparaging word about "Here Come The Sixers" and I will throw hands. Show proper respect to a certified jam.

Laddergate, and the ridiculous Skip Bayless slander about the Durant quote from The Daily Show, are similar in some ways. I don't know what motivates the haters, but they gonna hate on Giannis, even though it takes what must be world-class cynicism to pull it off.
Beat this team. They were the darlings of the preseason prediction brain trust, and some still see them as dominant contenders.
Let them boo Giannis like they booed Santa
As long as we come and implant a
Zoom Freak up their ass
So it soon comes to pass
That the talking heads have to recant-a.
Number 17, if it comes, will be one of the sweetest. Let it be 120-104.

Nostalgia Time:
Sixers v. Bucks played a national TV game on Saturday, February 2, 2002. This was our revenge game for the ECF. All the celebs were there (including me). We had the Snapper Jones, Bill Walton, etc.
https://www.espn.co.uk/nba/recap/_/gameId/220202015 After the Bucks loss, George Karl said there needed to be changes made to the team, or else he'd quit.
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The Philadelphia 76ers resorted to the tactics that were successful against the Milwaukee Bucks in last year's playoffs. They achieved the same results.
Allen Iverson scored 25 points, and Derrick Coleman added 19 as the 76ers rallied late to defeat the Bucks 86-81 Saturday in a rematch of last year's Eastern Conference finals.
"As the game transpired, it slowly moved into their kind of game," Bucks coach George Karl said. "By the fourth quarter, it was totally theirs. They're a great defensive team that holds and grabs, bumps and grinds. Our offense was stubborn and selfish. It
was a hell of a game. It had playoff mentality to it."
In the past, such negative comments from Karl about his team were directed at the so-called "Big Three" of Ray Allen, Glenn Robinson and Sam Cassell.
"I'm tired of talking about it. We've been talking about the same thing for 3½ years," Karl said. "We'll keep showing them film, we'll keep showing them opportunities. But if they were to continue to refuse to change, there's probably going to have to be a change.
"That means trading one of them or firing me. I think it's come to that, to be honest with you."
No Load Management back in those days:
Iverson, listed as probable before the game with flu-like symptoms, played 47 minutes, but made just 9 of 30 shots.
The trade deadline came three weeks later. The Bucks made no deals. Since the team didn't back up Karl with a trade, at that point they went into the super spiral and ended up missing the playoffs. Was an unbelievable collapse. This day was where it all started.

So the Iverson Sixers in addition to holding and grabbing would also “bump and grind”? Jeez I don’t remember that at all

In my lifetime, I pray to see Giannis break Wilts 100pt scoring game, if I had to pick a team to do it against, Philly is 100% on my shortlist.. I’d also settle for an 82pt game from Giannis just for funsies… Keep streaking, let’s **** go!

I thought last Saturday's game against the Celtics was one of those 'there's levels to this' kinda game and I think this could be one as well. The East has been discussed as a 3-team race for the last several weeks and I don't think that was completely out of line, I've been a Philly skeptic all season and their play post-ASB has further affirmed that. But I can't argue with the fact that after starting 12-12, over a nearly half the season sample size they were on a 60-win pace as they went 28-10 in their next 38. But if they lose this game and Boston and Cleveland each win very winnable games, they'll be 5.5 games back of the Celtics and only 1.5 games ahead of the Cavs.

Bucks were 27-17 going into that game and finished 14-24. They could have still made the playoffs by beating Detroit n the final game of the season. They lost 123-89 SMH

Yep, I remember very well reassuring myself daily that there is no way we miss the playoffs. We needed 4 more wins with 12 games left and went 3-9. That collapse was insane.

If the Sixers win are they going to hang a banner for breaking our streak next to the 2019 Christmas Day Championship?

Freak historically loves playing against Embiid and shows out. Sixers are going to play super tough and we are hot, so this game should definitely be must-see TV and have a playoff-like atmosphere (for Voodoo's sake, I hope). A convincing win against a contender with a GOAT performance (like 42-15-8) from Gianni would increase his MVP stock.
