Let’s say Boston gets swept. Could we call Boston and offer Jrue and Pat for Jaylen Brown? Might have to add more. Would Brad Stevens hang up? Or start talking?

Many on the Celtics board think they're trading him for Mitchell.

I think they'd be targeting that Simons + #3 deal. It would be **** painful watching Jrue in a Celtics jersey too.

So many falling actions depending on whether Horst thinks Khris is trending towards cooked or if he had a series of significant injuries he just wasn’t able to fully recover from during the season that can be rectified after a full offseason without incident.

The guy we saw vs Miami still gets a big contract.

The Middleton who made the all-star team the year before much less the one who was the Kobe to Giannis’ Shaq on our championship run earns a huge deal.

If a load managed Khris seems like he can pull that off if only for a few playoff runs it’d be different than if he’s just a permanently lesser player now too.

I would absolutely go after brown he the perfect 2 jmo

Khris Middleton for Jaylen Brown

Brown has the same kind of ballhandling blunders as Jrue/Midds with almost none of the playmaking, plus he thought that maybe Kyrie was onto something with the flat Earth stuff, so.

Hope Middleton gets traded or opt out of his final year. I'd rather let Middleton walk than give him a huge contract.

I do wonder, though, if this might re-open our ability to nab the #3 pick (or Simons) in a 3-way. Brown has to be target #1 for that rumored package of Simons+3, but I could see Boston not loving the fit. Maybe something with us sending Middleton to Boston with Simons+ coming back, or Holiday to Boston with #3+filler coming back.

Since losing Miami these are the priorities I had in mind moving forward.

- Give this core another chance with some other voice. Half the job is completed with Bud gone.

- Bring a PG that will get some pressure off Holiday.

- Don’t waste assets. Go all in next season with 2024/20229/2031 FRPs.

So this is an idea that could work…

I know there are a ton of red flags with 38y/o CP3, but it will be only for one season and Allen is all you are missing from the Jrue/Midds/Giannis/Brook starting lineup.

Next season you can guarantee CP3 to create a 30mil expiring for the all in move I’m expecting.

Bucks can still get younger this season starting fresh with their bench. Beauchamp, BPA at #24, maybe AJ could become cheap role players you will definitely need moving forward. It’s smarter paying this three 5-6 mil instead of paying Allen/Pat/Bobby 30mil.

He’s a far worse ball handler than either IMO but I doubt Boston would do that trade straight up and it would feel like a bit of a coup for us if they did.

I don't think we have even remotely the assets to trade for Brown. Would trade our entire roster sans Giannis for an extend Brown.

Yeah I don't see it as a possibility unless Brown demands out but even then I doubt we'd be the top bidder. Brown would be great for his defense and athleticism tho, few years younger than our core too.

Or he would opt-in to leverage a trade only to a certain team that can't outright sign him (e.g. GS), which usually limits what we can ask for. Only if Middleton opts in because he thinks he can't do better in FA (highly unlikely imo) we can trade him freely and if that is the case, his trade value won't be high. These 'Middleton for' insert high value trade piece proposals are dead on arrival imo.

Watching the importance of guys like Gabe Vincent and Bruce Brown to their respective teams has me more on the notion that we don't really need to be putting Jrue and Middleton in the trade machine constantly in an effort to get "younger". Something like:

Bobby + Grayson + Marjon to Indiana for Buddy Hield and #29 (Marcus Sasser) is both realistic and solves a lot of our issues without gutting the defensive identity (Jrue) or half-court shot creation (Khris) of this team.

I mean I'm quoting you but it was more of a broad statement not specifically directed at you. If we're trading Middleton now (S&T or opt in and trade), we're going to get a bunch of 'junk' maybe along with an asset or two. Whether that 'junk' is actual junk or turns into treasure is another matter, but we're not going to get only valuable pieces. I doubt we'll be able to get Simons. Maybe I'm wrong and his value around the league is not that high though.

I have Simons and Poole in a similar tier as undersized twos that don't play defense. I think Boston would love to get #3, but might not love the Simons fit. Overall I agree with your sentiment.
