Other thread maxed out. Please use spoiler tags when discussing specifics. If you aren't sure if you should use spoiler tags, use them. You guys always do this anyway but just a reminder.

Read some pre-review Borderlands impressions on Twitter. Movie appears to be as awful as everyone predicted.

Good SPOILER filled conversation here. It really puts in plain text how ridiculously jam packed the last two seasons are going to be, even if you go by a conservative and condensed version of the story. Just banger after banger in terms of events.

Didn't you just post somewhere about how the whole thing should've been fit into one season?

Guilty. In my defense, I think the first two seasons could have been half as long.

But yea, I'd forgotten about half of the bigger events yet to come.

It occurred to me when reading this review (and many others like it) that we already got a good version of Borderlands (sort of) on the screen. Twisted Metal did everything Borderlands was attempting, but did it reasonably well. It had the setting, violence, language, juvenile humor, wacky characters, questing, macguffin, and Big Bad.

It was a proof of concept too. How can you take this video game with minimal plot and build a feature out of it? A bunch of reviewers are pointing to that initial question as where the whole Borderlands thing went wrong; the idea of making a Borderlands movie was misguided from the start. And yet, Twisted Metal exists and works. I think there's a universe where better creatives take control of the project and make something good.

I was pretty meh on the first Deadpool movie, skipped the second, and enjoyed the one much more than the first, personally. It's been a long time since I saw that one but this latest just felt more fun and less serious. It still drags anytime it stops to explain whatever the hell is going on with the MCU.

I know I'm late to the party, but just started Succession. Good show so far but I'm only 4 episodes in.

Deadpool was probably the most entertaining thing to come out of this current "Intellectual Property Gruel" era of film-making (that, or Barbie), but I can definitely understand why it can be an exhausting experience for some. I didn't get half the easter eggs/meta references but still found it funny.

I liked Watchmen Chapter 1. Not sure why it exists, though.

I am a mild fan of Deadpool 1 and 2. But I found this last one as the most enjoyable. Not sure if it is because I hadn’t seen the previous ones in years, or it was fun to see this version of Wolverine or what, but it was a fun watch

Reminded me a bit of the humor in Fall Guy but further out there.

Eh. Really overrated in my opinion.

Some great writing in parts and certainly well-done, but the story is just ok for me.

Hope you like it as much as a lot of people did!

I was kind of excited about Alien: Romulus until I learned that it wasn't a sequel to Alien: Covenant. The Alien movies have plenty of flaws, but I thought Michael Fassbender was really **** good in the last two installments.

I’m the opposite lol. Agree Fassbender is amazing but overall I thought story wise Alien Covenant was kinda dumb tbh. I was super hyped when I heard there was a Fede Alvarez directed, claustrophobic, more horror focused Alien film coming out that seemed like a love letter to the OG movie and wasn’t tied to the latest films. The teaser had me super hyped as well.

Early reviews makes it seem like it could be the best one since Aliens, I’m still pretty hyped

Agree. I appreciate how they tried to evolve the story of the Aliens universe with Prometheus and Covenant but story in both just didn't hit the mark. Prometheus was too muddled and Covenant was just NPCs doing dumb **** all movie.

I still don't get how Alien 3 gets such a bad wrap. It suffered a lot coming off of the back of Aliens (and killing off Newt and Hicks) but was an underrated movie.

Def keen to see Romulus - it looks like they've taken the Prey approach and gone back to the roots of what Alien started as. It looks enjoyable but nothing especially unique.

Prometheus was great. Was cool to see the backstory fleshed out more with the Engineers and the origins of the Aliens in general. It felt like a vintage sci-fi movie. Covenant was where everything just went off the rails, and I say that as an unapologetic Ridley Scott stan. Just bad execution and a meandering plot that didn't fit the spirit of the franchise at all. It's the only Alien movie I've seen once and have no desire to watch again. I'm very optimistic about them going back to the roots with Romulus.

Prometheus is one of my most hated movies. Plot holes you could drive a truck through. Despise what it does and doesn't mean for the rest of the Alien universe.

Covenant was fine.

Seeing Romulus tomorrow. Was hoping the reviews were more glowing, but I still can't wait.

Interesting. Cage is great but this is something he's never really done before, assuming he's going to actually try to impersonate. Maybe that's the appeal, or maybe it's just working with Russell.
