Apparently the Bucks ownership group has put in a bid for the city of Milwaukee to land an expansion franchise in the WNBA. If the bid is selected the team would begin play in 2028

Interesting. I'm sure they did their analysis on whether the area would support a WNBA team. I support it, I don't know how many games I'd go to. Lots going on here in the summer. But reviving the Milwaukee Does name would be cool.

I was coming here to post that it would probably be some dumbass name like Does.

If not, it will either be a dumbass "concept" or non-tangible thing like the Milwaukee Harmony or some massive stretch Milwaukee/Wisconsin-related name like the Milwaukee Socialist Mayors.

It HAS to be the Does. It's perfect. The Does were in the WPBL. Bucks championship coach Larry Costello coached them for awhile but quit because he wasn't getting paid.

When the Milwaukee WNBA franchise lights up the league with a dynamite backcourt and someone asks who are the duo spearheading the charge that is when I point in their general direction and indicate "Dose dos Does" feel free to use no big deal

I dont know guya wpuld a NHL team be a must better investment than a WNBA team.
When you see cities as big as milwaukee like nashville colombus winnepeg minneapolis etc drawing really good in hockey i think that would be a much better draw.Think the milwaukee area could very easily draw well for a hockey game.JMO

There have been studies that have concluded that an NHL team isn't financially feasible in the Milwaukee market. Has anything changed to make it possible? No idea.

I might be the only poster on our board that attended a Milwaukee Does game. WTMJ Sportscaster Carl Cherkin gave away free tickets at our grade school, so my brother and I went. We uh, did not go back for a second game.

If I was still in Milwaukee I would definitely attend, think the WNBA will do well in Milwaukee. Also it needs to be the Does!

Feel like it would certainly be the Does but this is legitimately funny/clever.

Unfortunately I think my WNBA fandom is spoken for with the Mystics since it's one of the few leagues I didn't already have a team for when I moved to DC. But I've really grown to appreciate the women's game the last few years; in some ways (not enough ways) I actually prefer it to the NBA.

didnt their league just lose money to the tune of $40M after having their best ratings and viewership ever?

Yes, but that's pretty common when a league or business is going through their growth phase. The key thing for them right now financially is growing their revenue numbers, which has continued to grow in recent years and relatively exploded this season (and beyond as their TV deal for example is quadrupling in the coming years).

Those ratings don't mean dick when you're operating under old media rights deals. The league is about to receive boatloads in new money.
