Game 35: Spurs at Bucks - 1/8/25 - 8:30 - ESPN/FDSWI

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Tue Jan 7, 2025 3:11 pm

Late start for national TV.

Wemba did not play in Milwaukee last season. In San Antonio he had 27/9 but was limited to 26 minutes because of foul trouble. Giannis went off for 44/14/7/2 in that game (Bucks won 125-121). That was a great game. Wemba blocked a Giannis dunk late. Fun.

“He’s an unbelievable talent,” Antetokounmpo said. “Can score any time he wants. Plays the right way. Plays to win. It was great playing against him.”

The 7-footers dueled in the final minutes with both hitting clutch 3-pointers and making critical plays defensively.

Antetokounmpo drew a charge on Wembanyama after hitting a 3-pointer for a tie at 118 with three minutes remaining. The Greek star hit his second 3-pointer of the game 34 seconds later to give the Bucks a 121-118 lead.

Wembanyama responded by blocking Damian Lillard’s layup and making a 3-pointer to tie it with 53 seconds left.

Wembanyama blocked an attempted dunk by Antetokounmpo to set up a potential tying shot. Wembanyama passed up a contested 3-pointer to give the ball to Tre Jones, but the guard missed a 3-pointer from the right corner.

Lillard finished with 25 points and 10 assists.

Wembanyama said Antetokounmpo is one of the players he has studied the most because the 7-footer from Greece is aggressive and “scary for his opponents.”

“I’m a competitor, so I want to go at everyone and be the bad guy on the court,” Wembanyama said. “It was a great matchup.”

As always please keep the discussion on the game itself. Trade talk in the team thread. THX.

Bought 2 2nd level first row tickets. Last Spurs game I bought tickets for Giannis sat. Of course I woke up with the chills and a fever yesterday. Praying I feel better tomorrow.

When Prince is answering questions from both the Spurs second year sensation and the Bucks pbp announcer that is when he will say "Yes, Wemby" and "Yes, Lisa" and then the game will begin.

Chris Paul is as close to LeBron James and Draymond Green as it gets for players I just can’t stand. Please win this game and look like a good and well rounded team, that is all I ask… Go Bucks?

Us denying Paul his only chance at a ring was honestly almost as good as the joy from us actually winning it. Almost.

Dont like Paul but he is more annoying as in LBJ where he's been an athlete that has been in the spotlight for 20 years and never had a significant scandal (I guess except once in college for punching a guy in the nuts). I'm not confident enough in myself if i was given millions as a 20-year old that I wouldn't just spend it all on strippers and drugs.

Draymond is a hazard on the court and only a matter of time until he hurts someone. Guys like Bridges have hurt people off the court. Ja put NBA players in dangers, etc.

On the court, I long for an alternate reality where we would have had made a move for Paul in the summer of 2019 or 2020. I think him with Giannis would have been an amazing pairing. Forcing Giannis to make cut after cut for easy buckets. We would've still had our war chest to add someone down the line and would've had some cap flexibility the last couple years. I also like to pretend to think it wouldve started an earlier retool with being open to trading midds for someone aligning better with Giannis's prime.

ETA: Ayton was basically a 65TS guy with Paul, and ~58TS without him.

I don't know which Bucks team is going to turn up. We either make our open shots and win (looking like a team that moves and spaces), or we clank them and look like a team with no talent and no plan.

What threw off the board for awhile was that every game he's listed as "bilateral ankle injury management" and for Toronto he was probable with the same designation. Then on game day it was changed to "out" with ankle tendonitis instead of injury management. Later it was changed to the injury management designation.

Absolutely love it. We can put our kids to bed and crack a beer as the game starts. I’m a night owl. This is amazing.

We could have just drafted him.
