Game 42: Bucks at Pelicans - 1/22/25 - 7:00 - FDSWI - POSTPONED

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Tue Jan 21, 2025 1:22 pm

Second half of the season begins with a road game in New Orleans. Pelicans have been terrible this season but have won 4 straight. Zion missed their Monday night game with illness. No word if he will play tomorrow night.

Green likely still out but nothing official.

First of a B2B, Khris will either sit this one or the Thursday night game. We'll see if anyone else gets a break from the B2B.

Please keep the discussion in this thread on THIS GAME ONLY. Trade and other discussion on the team thread. THX.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Pels came back from 25 down against Utah yesterday. But that means they were down 25 to Utah.

Still love those Pels announcers, my favorite in the whole association. I would trade Pat for them.

The NBA should abolish back-to-backs, let alone when you have to travel. Here we go north to south, then have to return the next day. That's daft enough, when it's not a deep freeze. They might want to wait until tomorrow morning to fly back.

I'd keep Khris & Bird in Milwaukee. Hopefully Bird would be available in the 2nd leg; if not at least we have a fresh Khris. Really need to focus on getting that 1st one w/ Dame & Giannis, cuz there's less excuses. But NO are playing better. Trap games.

They should but we need to just bench our main guys on the end of those back to backs, even if they result in losses.

Losing to Brooklyn twice at home, Portland once, means they don't have the cushion. Time for coasting is over.

At most they try Giannis-Dame in NO, Dame-Middleton v. Miami. A Dame-centered offense beat them last time. Hedge it.

Let's not be complacent. We're a fast break team now so a gentlemanly 130 - 114 should be the upgraded, improved 120 - 104... and no more schedule losses... Bucks in 4 now... let's officially take the bags off our heads. Enough is enough...

Also, without those ugly 3rd quarter Bobby/Km minutes we'd be winning these games by 25+ ... we could use some Horst magic

He's listed as questionable on the initial injury report

There is a chance this game is postponed or canceled

This game is likely going to get postponed, from what I'm hearing. There is also real concern that Bucks will not be able to fly out to Milwaukee today, so tomorrow's game against Miami is also at risk of being postponed.

Can’t stress how bad the road conditions are in southern Louisiana right now, playing this game with fans/workers would be legitimately dangerous. They have no way to remove the snow/ice at all, there is no salt or sand, lots of roads and bridges are closed, itfroze hard last night and will barely get above freezing today, people from this region have never driven or even seen snow/ice like this in their lives.

Well, from the Bucks' perspective, it'd be a blessing in disguise, cuz I feared back-to-back losses, w/ Green not necessarily being able to play either, maybe Khris & another core guy out for 1, the old legs & minds not handling the turnaround/travel, etc.

I think we'd avoid a misplaced freakout from people saying we're backsliding again. Better to defer that at least, until hopefully we have a buffer, after this better run of form is sustained.

This is the graphic Chris Hayes used to announce it. Damn near gave me a heart attack.

They could re-schedule the Pelicans for February 18th, coming out of All Star Weekend, which ends on the 16th. You'd have no back-to-back even this way. Bucks 1st game back was the 20th.

Hard to avoid looking at the Heat. But they could do it February 14th, which actually would only be a back-to-back for them, not us. And they wouldn't be able to take part in Rising Stars' b.s., but that's small sacrifice.

When was the NBA Cup make-up scheduled for, and against whom?

Having the team fly in to New Orleans and then not being able to play and potentially not being able to get out for tomorrow's game is pretty rough.

Seems like it's always something whenever we're starting to get some momentum on the court.
