2025 Draft Thread

Post#1 » by emunney » Thu Feb 13, 2025 4:46 pm

Now that we have a draft pick, we should have a draft thread.

The pick we got from the Wizards is likely going to be mid-2nd round, because all three of the picks it could be originate from teams around .500 (Suns, Warriors, Pistons). Right now we'd pick 45th.

Not sure who I'm rooting for with the pick, but I really like Chad Baker-Mazara from Auburn as a guy who'll likely be there according to mocks. He's kind of a loose cannon, but he's also a long wing with pretty good pop, a nice all-around skillset, and is a serious dog/competitor despite being stick-skinny. He's also old as hell -- disqualifyingly so, I could be convinced -- but eh.

Where is Yaxel Lendeborg mocked. Is he even on the board?

Oh hell yeah, let's find the next Jokic. If Kalkbrenner can hit 3's now, he's got an intriguing ceiling. Still seeing a lot of mocks with him in the early-mid 2nd though. He'd be an awesome get at that spot.

- If we wanna take a wild swing at the next Serbian superstar, Bogoljub Markovic looks like he can do a bit of everything (shoot, pass, get to the line).

- Tyrese Proctor still feels like a guy who has good NBA potential. 6'5 guard with decent length and flamethrower shooting ability.

- There's a dude named "Dink" in this draft class, so there's that...

I hate saying what I’m about to say, but Cooper Flagg looks like the most Giannis-like prospect since Giannis came into his own.

I thought that Ace Bailey could have challenged him for #1, but nah, Flagg is the real deal. He's non-Beta Jayson Tatum.

4 Aussies projected in the 40's right now per Tankathon, just saying. Continue that famous legacy that Bog, Delly, Thon bestowed on the great city of Milwaukee

The Milwaukee Bucks have traded the rights to the 44th pick and Pat Connaughton to the Charlotte Hornets for a 6-pack of Miller High Life

Ace Bailey is nice, though. It's wild how KD created a whole archetype.

Remember when Giannis wasn't athletic enough to be the next KD?

Give me the high energy PF/C that is a plus athlete and long enough to be disruptive. In fact give me a couple of those and let it sort itself out. I don’t watch college but grazing scouting reports does Coleman Hawkins or Trevon Brazile fit the bill?

Original reporting was wrong, Lessort went to the Wizards, confusingly.

Any guys you’d move the ‘31 1st and 32 swap for like the Rob Dillingham trade for Minnesota from last year?

Yeah probably. First guy that comes to mind for me is Thiero, if his knee is ok. Some places have him lasting well into the 2nd round though, not sure why that'd happen, but stranger things have.

No. We'd have to trade for one
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.
