Game 57: Bucks at Rockets - 2/25/25 - 7:00 - FDSWI

Rockets are very good but just 3-7 in their last 10. We beat them at home in November in a thriller, 101-100. Dame hit a layup with 3.9 seconds left, Giannis blocked Sengun at the end.
Weird schedule this week, we go to Texas, come back to face Denver, go back to Texas to face the Mavs. Fortunately it's a Tue-Thur-Sat week, no back to back until next week. I would expect everyone to play.
As usual please keep the posts in this thread on the game itself.

Starting here, our schedule the next 15-20 games or so is insane. Like the worst teams in that stretch are still teams that could be dangerous on any given night like the Hawks & Mavs. And we play the Thunder, the Nuggets twice, the Cavs, Lakers twice, Warriors, Knicks, Pacers twice, etc. We're gonna find out exactly who this team is over the next few weeks.

The posts on here after these games are going to be among the best ever.

We've got to bank marquee wins. If we can chalk embarrassing losses up to bad Brook match-ups, we have to chalk up wins to be proud of cuz Brook matches up. This should be 1. He draws Sengun. And it's not a back-to-back. Then it's Jokic, at home.
Let's get 10 games over .500 before an actual tough stretch, that includes two weird back-to-backs w/ a lot of rest in-between.

https://tankathon.com/remaining_schedule_strengthHopefully we don't punt any games soon. Denver is at home/TNT, so I dont think they do that there. Would be nice to split Hou/Den and then kick Dallas's ass with AD likely out both games. Last week was huge in giving us a buffer over 7/8 seed and we are getting close to where we control out own destiny vs Det where if we play them twice to end the season. Would just be nice to be in a position with 10 games left of not having to run Dame and Giannis into the ground to avoid the play-in.

Such an infuriating thing. Let's give a team four days off, then b2b. WHY? To save a few bucks on travel?

Rockets have been without Van Vleet for this stretch and probably will have him back for the Bucks (game time decision).
And everyone's favorite on here, Tari Eason, will probably play. Because of his leg, they don't play him back to back. But the Bucks game is the first of a back to back for them.

I don't think we punt any games. Maybe be careful with B2B. Next week we have 2 back to backs. Crazy. We have road/home Hawks/Mavs and home/home Magic/Cavs. But we can't afford to take games off with only 25 to play after the Rockets game.
I think we win this one. Just try not to a dig a hole. Houston just had a 6 game losing streak, 5 were on the road.

Start Green instead of Prince. Whenever posters are 100% on an issue, they can't be wrong.
But Green needs to be more productive. I hope he watches Trent on offense. Trent is smaller, but gets off his shots both on threes and twos, so much better than Green. But I like Green's defense better.

I don't think sitting Dame for 1 game, to replace him w/ similar minutes from KPJ, is punting it. We should be looking for some situations to do that. There's little drop-off.
Kuzma is a Giannis knock-off, but a much cheaper one. IDK if we can afford Giannis taking off the other game. Maybe they keep trying the nominal minute restriction thing.
IDK if there's a game in there to sit Brook in and play Sims against a stretch big. Too bad Indy's not one. They will be for the next back-to-back, so maybe that's where they do it. Strategizing how to manage this is important.

KPJ has been good in 17 minutes. But I'd be careful with "there's little drop-off" between him and Dame. That said, I'm fine giving Dame a game off here and there. We have a nice 4.5 game cushion to being a playin team but that could evaporate quickly given our schedule.

Even if KPJ's offense tails off (it will, some), he plays defense, so it's easier to pair him in the backcourt. Then you could actually start Trent for max offense. Dame needs to be linked w/ defenders cuz he has the worst d-rating on the team & his net is barely above water. Giannis has been the only regular season difference maker. The rest have been enhancements, regular or situational.

We sure KPJ’s D doesn’t tail off with increased minutes? He was shutting down Herro for a few possessions when he was fresh off the bench then once Doc brought him back in later in the fourth, he got cooked on three straight possessions.

Is this KPJ thing the new "Rozier is 80% of Dame" thing?

Dame off the injury report is good news. Still terrified about the Giannis calf stuff.

To assuage your trepidation, I'm wondering if they are slightly embellishing his calf for the express purpose of giving him a two week "vacation" mid season? I'm sure he has calf soreness and knee soreness given how dominant he was the first half of the season (often playing 36ish mins). Perhaps the coaches and docs were like "Yea let's not fyck around this time and cap his minutes for a couple of weeks."
