Game 79: TWoves at Bucks - 4/8/25 - 7:00 - FDSWI

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Mon Apr 7, 2025 2:20 pm

Portis returns. He's been practicing the whole time and should be in decent shape.

Wolves are in a dogfight. FOUR way tie for 5,6,7,8. And Denver is only a half game ahead of them at 4. It's going to be a wild final week.

I'm assuming Giannis plays but that's not a given.

As usual please limit your posts in this thread to this game. Thanks.

We got up 92 shots last game and actually had the rebounding edge for once. Still got out shot, but only by a few... Not by 15 to 20, so that was nice. Granted, it was a depleated scrub team. Two games ago, Kpj was making some nice passes to Giannis. He and Brook also have very good chemistry. Getting Sims and Bobby(maybe Dame) back for the playoffs should be fun. Kpj seems to be playing both sides of the ball a heck of a lot better than the majority of the team. Being in position to make plays, challenging shots, and distributing the ball well, draining the threes as well.

I legit thought we would be a play in team with how rough our schedule was. l am glad to see some gritty wins, and them prove me wrong.

My fear is we just get waxed by any team that shoots at a high clip from the three point, that can rebound.

It feels like we haven't really hit our stride the past two years leaving me to question that we just aren't a good team anymore. Too much change to the point where nobody knows how to fix the issues.

We have to play near perfect to be in a game these days. I miss the days were we would be up by 20 every night and just coast to a victory.

Bobby's return will remind many of us of how important he is on this team. Very happy to have his suspension officially in the past.

First team we've faced in a while that likely won't be trotting out a G-league lineup, so I'm guessing we get walloped here. Although if Giannis plays like he has the last 3-games, then I guess *insert KG anything is possible gif*.

Brook has been playing really good basketball the last few months. After a relatively quiet December and January, he's really turned it on as of late...but I would love to give him a few games off now that Bobby is back. Or at least severely reduce his minutes. Just feels like he's been asked to do a ton since the Bobby suspension and the Sims injury. I'm interested to see how much we play him tomorrow.

It was good to have two guards starting last game. Hey Doc, let's make that a trend.
Let Bobby and Kuz do some bench mobbing.

I don't think so. We beat them on the road w/out Giannis & Dame. A swing factor in games is how Brook matches up. Gobert's one of his best matches. And we'll have a 3rd big back. So much of our struggles this season have stemmed from being down to 2 or less.

True. They were without Randle, DDV and Conley in that one.

Sure, and Minnesota has been one of the six best teams in the league since the ASB (+7.5 net-rating). Whereas we've barely been scraping by the absolute bottom-feeders that're playing for ping-pong balls at this point of the season. But if Giannis keeps going supernova and Doc keeps starting Trent at SG instead of Prince, then hey, maybe there's still hope for a competitive playoff series with this squad.

We were 4-0 against the Randle Knicks last year & Conley is a good match-up too for us because he's old/a shell of himself.

I just think they're a good match-up, plus it's a home game, ala Denver, only Gobert can't shoot.

When the newly reinstated Portis blacks out and hits six 3s <DJ Paul drop> in a row, that is when I will nudge my girlfriend (she's in Canada) and I will say "Baby? Bobby Buckets?!? Bonkers!" feel free to use no big deal

Gary only started because of Giannis sitting out unfortunately. I fully expect Taurean to keep getting 29 minutes whether he’s playing well or not. Doc doesn’t care about starting appropriate players positionally and it is one of those things that continues to drive me insane. I can’t get used to it. I doubt it motivates Trent to want to stick around past this season, either.

Mid-flight I was a bit concerned but I think we nailed the landing here.

It's unbelievably stupid and I think it's one of the big factors (among several) in why we'll probably lose in round 1. If we could just start a lineup around Giannis that has some real spacing, at least some juice off the dribble and has perimeter guys who can actually guard guards, I think Giannis could hulk mode his way to a series win against a team like the Pacers. But if Doc insists on his pea brained Prince/Kuzma SG/SF lineups, we're not overcoming that against a good team in the playoffs.

Green is playing. Giannis is probable. Pat is questionable with an ankle injury
