Re: Bucks News, Transactions, Trade Ideas
Should we trade that 2031 pick for pick(s) now to help build something over the next few seasons or look for another quick fix by moving it for an established player?

Saves the Celtics a decent chunk of $ and gives them a nice young shooter in Knecht. Gives LAL the big they need.
Bucks get the multi level scorer / passer they need in Reaves.
Boston's GM is a smart guy. Smart guys don't trade for Kuzma.

I think getting Giannis immediate help is what’s best for the franchise in its current state. I also think that pick has insanely high value to a lot of teams around the league so there’s also a good chance you can pluck a rising star potential player with it.
Josh Richardson, Romeo Langford, a 2022 1st and a 2028 pick swap is what Boston gave up for Derrick White. It’s a great model reference towards the type of player we desperately need and how we can use the 2031 pick to acquire him this offseason…

Thinking about Brook to LA, could we just sign him to a 1 year/11 mil deal and trade him to the Lakers for Jarred Vanderbilt and their 2031 1st?
Sign and trades have to be for multiple years, but if I recall, only the first season's salary has to be guaranteed.

Especially when they could just trade Porzingis for Rui/Knecht/Reaves in this scenario (by adding a Pat-sized contract).

Teams frequently buy second-round picks. Time for the Bucks to get aggressive and buy the #1 pick.

Re: Bucks News, Transactions, Trade Ideas
If I'm Horst I'm not trading any more future firsts unless I get the sense from this week's meeting with Giannis that he's all but got one foot out the door without a major offseason acquisition. I get that all the discussion is currently on 2025 and what we can do to convince him to stay, but I still think the pitch needs to be more on 2026 when we'll have a (hopefully) fully rehabbed Dame and up to 3-4 future firsts and swaps to push in for one last major move.

Austin Reaves is the one time a Lakers asset wasn’t just a glorified role player. He’s a legitimate very good starter.
They aren’t trading him for peanuts.

I also don't get why they would be looking to trade him. Because he shot poorly while injured in a small sample? They have to be able to find a bouncy big who's good at D without giving him up.

Idk if they are desperate enough to give up 5 1sts but it's not like they are gauranteed to be good picks and the 2029 doesn't convey if it's 1-3.
Five late round firsts aren't worth very much, as teams that have had the Bucks picks have found out. No thanks.

Yeah, that was my thought. Giannis going to Philly makes those Philly picks likely not worth it at all.BigO wrote:pifhluk23 wrote:If Giannis asks out, 76ers are looking to trade PG and #3. If ive learned anything its that not only is it impossible to pay Giannis what hes worth, it may also be impossible to get his full value in a trade... Still, i feel good about what a bid war could bring in.

Why would they keep him when they have Luka & LeBron? That's a too many cooks in the kitchen situation & not enough defense. Reaves has more value to most other teams. That's why they should trade him, for the best offer.
If we can give them that, or facilitate it, is another matter. An s&t of Bobby & the '31 1st (unprotected) is the best that we can realistically do. It doesn't seem far off value-wise. Possibly they'd want 1 or both of those things. Otherwise steer them to a 3rd team, or cut us out completely.

LeBron is going to be 41 this season. Luka just made an NBA Finals playing next to Kyrie.
The only reason the Lakers should trade Reaves is because they don’t want to pay him the 40+ million per year he will be looking to get after next season. But even then, they would be looking for an All Star in return. Reaves is going to be 27 years old averaging 26/6/5.

Reaves averaged 20, 6, 4.5. Is coming off a bad playoffs. We can speculate if there's a valid excuse. But that's the circumstance. Is an OK defender playing on a team w/ a terrible defender who demands the ball, & a declining defender who also does. Not nearly as rosy as you paint it.

Re: Bucks News, Transactions, Trade Ideas
As someone else alluded to, just not enough ball handling duties to go around to keep Reaves happy and he's about to get a very large contract in all likelihood. Lakers won't give him away like that one proposal above is suggesting but if they can get the center they need and some first round picks too, they'd probably do that.DingleJerry wrote:BroncoBuck wrote:Austin Reaves is the one time a Lakers asset wasn’t just a glorified role player. I’d do that. MPJ had a rough playoffs and a down year but I deem him much more useful overall as a player than Kuzma and Pats 10m is only the type of kicker in a deal like this. A flawed reclamation project coming off an underachieving season is probably the best we’re doing with Kuzma. But taking the chance is certainly worth getting rid of Kuzma.
