Donte Greene today

Post#1 » by LUKE23 » Sat Jan 5, 2008 8:21 pm

7-16 shooting, 3-6 3's, 21 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 3 blocks in a win against South Florida.

Great size for a freshman, averaging 19/9 for the seaon on 47% shooting, and already has pretty solid range and the ability to block shots.

This is my #1 option in the draft, even though he's 6-11 his game screams small forward. Assuming we don't land in the top 3-5 picks, that is.

Bucks currently 8th worst team in the NBA. Only 1/2 game separates us from Charlotte who is the 6th spot in terms of lottery position.

Its awesome to be talking the the lottery in the beginning of January. Can't beat Bucks basketball.

He looks a lot like Rashard Lewis to me... So I think he'll be a solid contributer, good 2nd or 3rd scorer on a team that can compete. He can play the 3 or the 4 but is going to be a bit of a defensive liability on the ball at both, though if he plays the 3 he will be an above average shot blocker for that position.

Can post up smaller 3's, take bigger 4's out to the perimeter... Etc, etc.

I really like Greene too Luke. Great size, skills, and athleticism. Though I may have to agree with the before quote of Rashard Lewis. Then again if the Bucks had Lewis with our current squad there is no way our record is this bad.

Rashard Lewis is a good comparison, although I think he'll be a better shotblocker than Shard for sure. Not sure what his wingspan is, but at 6-11 he moves like a small forward, not a power forward.

NBAdraft.net has him all the way up to #5 now, with a comparison of Shard Lewis/Marvin Williams.

I think we could do a lot worse than Rashard Lewis at small forward, especially on a rookie scale. But like I said, I think Greene will have more impact on D than Lewis does.

Way more aggressive than CV. He's averaging 19/9 as a freshman, CV was at 13.4/8.3 as a sophomore.

NBA Comparison: Rashard Lewis/Marvin Williams

Strengths: Greene is an especially long and talented wing who can score in bunches. When he

Thats good. It seems like he wouldn't compliment Yi well though.

We just need the best talent available. I think Greene could be it where we pick and he would fit in our biggest position of need.

In that scenario I would trade Redd most likely.

I know the question that is really on all our our minds: would this Greene character wear a suit when he meets with the Bucks front office?

I think you give him all the backup minutes at the 4 and the 5 and have a big man rotation of Yi, Bogut and Griffin. In that scenario each of them could get 32 minutes per game.
