SportsNation Marc Stein: (2:11 PM ET ) Is GM Larry Harris under fire? Yes. Would they trade Redd to shed his contract? I'm skeptical. Only because Bucks owner Herb Kohl is not a man of action. I envision a move or two, but not a house-cleaning.

sounds like he has no clue, just specualtion....but I am betting most likely to go is CV.

But I emailed harris complaining about redd and he said that redd is going no where and he really likes the core of mo williams, michael redd, and Yi.

He didn't really mention CV and Bobby though

Thanks for the note.
We are not looking to trade Michael Redd at this point in time. He is a very important piece of our core group and while I will always do whatever is best for the team, trading him would not be in our best interest.
We have a good core group and we need to add pieces that mesh well with them. Also, our starting lineup is the 3rd youngest in the league, so there will be some growing pains that go along with that.

I do appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with me. You are obviously a good fan and watch us closely.

My memory was pretty faulty actually since he didn't mention anyone by name, so I apologize

But I think its awesome he continues to email fans despite how bad things are going and the negative perception that he knows must be out there about him.

Yeah, I got an email response from him a couple of days ago from a "Trade for RJ" email I sent him about a month ago.


He was very impressed with my email since I sent various scenarios that worked in the trade checker and even mapped out potential savings for the Nets.

Sometimes you can tell when he has an assistant copy and past a general response and sometimes it seems like he actually is responding.

Even if larry harris' tenure turns out to be a failure, (maybe his constant emailing was hurting his work? ), I still like the guy, I fall for his used car salesman routine.

You won't get a superstar fro Redd because Redd is not a superstar.....the best you could hope for is a talent ready to step up to that star level who has a more complete game...iggy from Philly, Josh Howard, someone like that, although those could be 2 bad examples.

what he said about being the 3rd youngest starting line up in the NBA, that's a pretty poignant statement. Perhaps we're expecting too much from a team that had 28 wins (albeit under pretty extraordinary circumstances) last season

Yeah that could be true, although there's so much cash already invested in this team its hard to watch them struggle.

I think that statement about the lineup will probably lead to the bucks holding off on any major moves and waiting to see if LK can get this team to progress as the year unfolds, and then if there's no improvement LH will get the ax and the new gm (Sund baby!) can restructure the team as he (kohl) sees fit.

I like the part where Stein says kohl is not a man of action.

Stein has a mancrush for Michael Redd, so who knows

i think it's obvious that gadz will go in whatever trade comes up. he is being ignored, deliberately. we've got a lot of guys on our roster that can't play, so i don't see why he'd be singled out. he's our 4th option for center...

I was skeptical too about a Redd trade. If I was our Gm, my goal would have been improve our bench because we need some energy out of it. Our starting 5 is okay, to me. We should try to trade obviously Gadz and Bobby for their contracts, then CV and/or Bell. Right Now in the NBA, the goal for a team making trades are expiring contracts and young talent, so I believe teams like Minny, Memphis, or ( ) Portland are the teams we can try to do something with. 2008 free agent class is going to be good, so maybe an expirer can be good. Portland has Raef LaFrentz, Miami has Jason Williams, but also Corey Maggette is an expirer ( Do I remember well?)...But I have to think about it to do an official trade proposal to you.

If you think about it, LH is right. Why should Redd be traded? It's not fault that as a scorer and shooter, Redd is surrounded with other pure scorers (who don't do much else). It's Harris's job to complement players with other players, not bring in players who all have the same talent.

A core of Redd/Bogut/Yi is pretty good scoring wise, but we need defenders and a passing PG to make them more effective. Putting in a soft, jump shooting Bobby Simmons, a chucking PG in Mo Williams, and another scoring guard in Charlie Bell wasn't necessarily the way to go about it.
