Moves you would make if you were the GM of the Bucks.

Post#1 » by BucksRuleAll22 » Sat Jan 12, 2008 6:41 am

Just curious what everyone would do, and there opinons.

If I was the GM I would fire coach K the next minute.

I know that Mo and Redd should not be playing on the same team together so I would trade one of them. I think Mo gets his team mates alot more involved and nobody stands around like they do with Redd, also Mo has a smaller contract so I would choose to keep Mo and trade Redd.

I would trade Bogut, I was not a fan of him before he was drafted, and Im not a fan of him still. I think Bogut holds more value then he is accually worth, and since he is a young 7ft center that was drafted #1 in the draft he probly could be a big piece to landing a actual allstar player something he will never be. Also the Bucks will have to resign him after 1 more season and hes is gonna want a big contract that he is not worth, and bc he is a 7ft center someone will give him the money and it would not be me. I think Redd and Bogut could land a allstar player easily. Maybe the Bulls would trade Luol Deng for Bogut something like that. IF not again Redd and Bogut could probly land some nice players.

My next move would be trading Bobby Simmons and getting rid of his contract and trying to get a expiring player, if nobody would be intrested I would try to package a player with Simmons like Bell, a 2nd round draft pick or if none of that worked CV.

Those are a few moves I would make.

Gadzuric + 2nd for Eric Snow
CV for Pietrus
Yi + Simmons + 1st (Top 5 Protected) for Gasol

Bogut - Voshkuhl
Gasol - Ruffin
Pietrus - Mason - Noel
Redd - Bell - Storey
Snow - Mo - Ivey - Sessions

Snow would start the game to defend their best G and simply run the offense... I would still play Mo 30+ MPGs though and he would sub for Snow/Redd/Pietrus, whichever one comes out first. Our '9 man rotation' would be Bogut/Gasol/Pietrus/Redd/Snow with Ruffin(Or Voshkuhl)/Mason/Bell/Mo as our primary subs.

Main idea is to have Pietrus or Snow in the game at all times to guard their best perimeter player and stop penetration from their guard.

To finish the game I would put Bogut/Gasol/Pietrus/Redd/Mo in.

Just what I would do, personally.

Fire Larry K, hire JVG.

Trade Yi + pick for Iguodala. I could care less about revenue and Chinese audiences.

Cut Storey + Ruffin, sign Rod Benson + Stephane Lasme

Call up Ramon Sessions

Draft Joe Ingles with 2nd round pick

C: Bogut | Benson | Voshkul
PF: Villanueva | Lasme | Benson
SF: Iguodala | Simmons | Ingles
SG: Redd | Mason | Bell
PG: Mo | Ivey | Sessions

Coach: JVG

Not perfect but still.

I would do exactly what VG said...find a SF and break up the backcourt of Mo and Redd.

I think getting Pietrus would be a good first step and within reach. Our SF situation is embarrassing.

I like CV for CV for Pietrus.

I would trade Yi + Simmons.. Simmons is the key just to get rid of his horrible game and contract, I don't want to give up the 1st round pick though.

I love Yi I just don't trust the Chiness and his agent so I would trade him for a player liek Gasol or AI.

Acquiring just Pietrus would be like having cancer and thinking taking some aspirin will make you healthy again.

Play Mo at his natural position at SG
Trade Redd for Kidd (or any other real PG to form backcourt with Mo)
Trade Yi and Simmons for Gasol (or any other frontcourt all star player)
Trade CV for Garcia (or some other young SF with potential)

This scenario works on trade checker:

Bucks trade Redd and Gadzuric to Nets for Kidd
Bucks trade Yi and Simmons to Memphis for Gasol
Bucks trade CV to Sacramento for Garcia and Douby

Starting 5
PG: Kidd
SG: Mo
SF: Garcia
PF: Gasol
C: Bogut

Not trade Yi or Bogut.

Move Mo for a real SF. Or to a team with a non big scoring 2 guard. I'd move him for Lowry, Warrick and something.

Move Bell for real depth (to GSW for MP)

Try to move Simmons, Gadz and CV for anything of value.

Re-sign Ivey for cheap for 2 to 3 years.

Bring in some attitude.

Make sure that Yi and Bogut each get 12 shots a game.

Seriously look at calling Sessions up.

I can't figure out an exact trade, but basically this....

Redd to Utah returning Brewer, Milsap, and salary filler

CV to Minny for Gomes and 2nd (essentially a late 1st)

Mo
Brewer
Gomes
Yi
Bogut

Bell
Milsap
Simmons
Voskuhl/Ruffin
Please reconsider your animal consumption.

1. Players exiting = 1 of Mo/Redd + CV + Gadz or Simmons if we can move them.

2. Players incoming = someone who can start at SF who is more defined by defense than offense (call it a Pietrus/Brewer type of guy) + an inside banger/defender (call it a David Lee/Brandon Bass/Jason Maxiell type of guy) + someone who can take the starting spot of whichever guard we move. If we move Mo we need a PG who isn't shoot first. If we move Redd we need someone who is an above average defender + acceptable on offense)

3. I fake a loss of hearing whenever Herb Kohl wants to give me his ideas on player moves.

I told you a thousand times what deals I would make if i were GM of the Bucks.

And I stick by what I said and the players who I think would help. And even more so the more others laugh at it and tear it down.

Because frankly I do not respect what any of them say in regard to players who they write about who don't win!

I would not waste one second acquiring Ron Artest or Amare Stoudamire.
I would bring in Scott Skiles and or Jeff Van Gundy in a dual role and be done with it...

The only guy I would not move is Andrew Bogut in any deal. I would not even keep Yi or my picks to get this done!

I would trade Redd to Philly for a sign and trade with Iguodala - other players would need to be involved to make this work out. If we could dump Gadz in the process and get anyone who could contribute that would be a bonus. I agree with someone else who noted the difference between the team activity with Mo on the floor as opposed to Redd. Depending on the defensive match-up at the two spot, Mo has shown he can be effective at the two spot. I like the defensive intensity Ivey shows at the one. He's earning those minutes he's playing
I would not even consider moving Bogut or Yi. Bogut has shown since the 1st of the year what he can do when the offense goes through him. I'd write something into his next contract tying significant bonuses to his ability to raise his free throw percentage a reasonable amount in each year of his new deal.
Simmons is just getting healthy, so I'd bite the bullet and keep him around. He may finally be getting healthy and can provide good back-up to Iguodala at the 3 spot. I would try and trade Bell to Miami along with something else as soon as it is legally possible. Though he's playing better, someone who doesn't want to be here doesn't deserve to be part of the franchise we can become - so see ya later Charlie.
Unsure about Villanueva - I can't figure him out.....
Just my thoughts for now

If the Rockets start to stumble again, I'd offer them Villanueva/Voskuhl/2008 second for Battier. The Rockets have started to play better but their biggest problem has been a significant lack of offense other than McGrady and Yao. Battier is very valuable to them but if they start losing again and struggle to score they may be persuaded to deal Battier for a scorer such as Villanueva.
Nothing will not break me.

I would do what it took to get Pietrus here in Milwaukee as well. He would be the perfect fit at the SF. The guy can create problems with his defense. Plus he brings alot of energy that we lack. Although we have shown improvement in that area as of late.

If I were to pick I would say Redd needs to go for many reasons. Dont want to rehash what people have already stated but, he is not a leader, doesnt move the ball, the huge contract, plus we could get more in return...etc.

Atleast if Mo were to play the 2 spot he would look to pass more often than Redd would ever consider. I honestly think he can do just as good a job as Redd if he was looked at to score.

1. trade redd for a defensive-minded shooter. he is a highly talented shooter, without doubt one of the best in the league but imo is the weak link in the team. we won't get someone of his calibre in return, but i think we can get a decent player. package him with gadz.

2. as a part of the redd trade, look for a backup for yi.

3. move cv to small forward. he doesn't play like a 4, why start him at the 4? starting lineup 3/4/5 is massive. i guess this is coach's job.

4. invest more time and more money in yi and bogut. i can't remember who pointed out the difference between the laker's handling of bynum and buck's handling of bogut, but they were on the money. if you are lucky enough to pick up some serious talent like bogut and yi - look after them and do your best to develop them.

5. persist with coach k for another season. rookie coaches need time to develop as well.

6. be patient with bobby simmons. i get the feeling simmons is going to return to form and possibly fill some of the scoring void left by redd. i think he will finally start to earn some of his salary. likewise charlie bell - he's showing signs of returning to form.

7. hurry up and deal gadz. i like him, i'm a fan. but he is wasted money and space. package him up in the redd trade.

8. be patient. this team wasn't built to succeed now like the celtics, it was built to succeed in 2-3 years.

9. call up ramon sessions at the end of the year. the guy needs to stay in game shape and gain experience in running a team.
