Bucks - TWolves trade rumor from MJS

Post#1 » by paulpressey25 » Sat Jan 12, 2008 7:07 am

http://www2.jsonline.com/idealbb/view.a ... sessionID={5095D8A8-DD90-4BB4-8B26-FDC5E4816B36}

We trade Bell, CV and Gadz to Minnesota for Gomes, Antoine Walker, Gerald Green and a future #1.

It's the last gasp from the MJS guys so this might be a "Hammer post" but the trade is well constructed enough to actually seem like something Larry Harris and Kohl would do.....

GAD...does it work?

My knee jerk reaction is that deal sux unless Gerald Green all of a sudden lives up to his potential....UNLIKELY.

I like Gomes. But Green and Walker are garbage. I guess the future number one is ok. Getting rid of Gadz is a plus though. But this move doesn't help us win this year so really why do it?

Haha gotta give it to those guys for trying but he forgot to send the lube to Minnesota for cash considerations.

I would not do this trade unless it was a unprotected 2008 1st round pick. I would think about it if it was Simmons instead of Gaza. Walker is just as bad as Gaza or Simmons.

I'd have to think about this thing for awhile.....It's the Europa bench trade essentially.

CV v. Antoine (I haven't watched Antoine lately, but we must assume he'll be more consistent than CV and be able to do more things as backup PF)

Gadz v. Gomes: I think Gomes is just a guy who puts up stats on bad teams, but I do have full confidence he can provide more than Gadz does.

Bell v. Green. Bell is better but we get the future #1 to balance this out.

Contractually we dump Gadz, don't owe CV an extension and dump the four years left on Bell's deal. We only take on Antoine's bad deal, but that only has two-years to run before a team option.

On the salary front if you look at it after this season, we dump the Gadz remaining $20.5mm and Bells remaining $15mm. We only take on $9.3mm of Walker next year and would need to re-sign Gomes. That positions us for Bogut's extension better.

Probably a bs rumor but this makes a ton of sense when viewed in the lense of Kohl's (and Harris's) past moves. Dump salary...get some guys we think can help now, even if it's just to get some different guys in the locker-room.

Accually after reading more details that Paul posted I would do this deal. Seems fair though I think CV is a solid player and the way he has been playing latley makes it alot harder to trade him.

Is the #1 pick protected? T'wolves 5-30, worst record in NBA at moment.

Other than McHale being a moron, i see zero reason for why the TWolves make this trade. They don't need Gadz or Bell and i don't see how Villanueva becomes a core piece for them, so why get rid of a first round pick and take on two bad contacts?

The rumor has it as a 2009 pick that would presumably be lotto protected so we wouldn't get it that year either perhaps.

The more I think on this deal the more it seems to be a classic Herb deal.....try to do EVERYTHING at once. Get better now (Walker/Gomes), get better in the future (#1 and Green) and dump salary (assuming you think you can resign Gomes to a reasonable deal.)

Minny would only do this deal if they felt Walker was a cancer and they'd want to buy the lotto ticket on CV to see what happens. I don't see where Bell fits in unless they are getting ready to give up on Foye and McCants, which I can't see.

Even if it is protected. Say we get a lottery pick in 2010. Is CV worth a lottery pick at this point? My first inclination would be that he isn't. When I'm getting Gomes and dumping Gadz and Bell, I like the deal even more. Green is just one of those guys that's low risk high reward at this point.

I think CV is worth a mid 1st still with his play latley and his offensive potential he brings.

I really do think that CV and Simmons could get a expiring contract and thats good enough for me. I would get rid of CV for free if it meant getting rid of Simmons.

We are not winning the NBA finals anyway so I could caress less about winning now. Ijust want to see some positive progress.

I'll go out on a limb and buy into the idea that this is a legit deal that is being discussed between the two teams.....and could happen.

Why? I'm not sure any of us on these message boards would ever come up with something this intricate and with this mix of players, even for a spoof. And construct a spoof deal that fits Kohl's MO of win now and dump salary.
