This makes sense. I agree with Stein that it would be a major shock if Redd was traded. It makes no sense given how he's nowhere close to this team's major problem and the only player on the team close to All-Star capability. And it makes even less sense to entrust a major move like this to a lame-duck GM who is in many ways responsible for the mess this team is now in. I'll go back to what I posted in another thread - if Kohl has already decided Harris' fate (and it wouldn't surprise me if he has), then I think the most he allows to happen now is a small move and nothing major. I think he'll want his next GM to be able to look over the primary parts of the roster and determine who stays and who goes.

I think that's a very smart move and the right move for the Bucks to take barring a major player offered to the Bucks.

Our designated role players have played very poorly this season.

Last night was just another example. Simmons with 2 points and 4 boards in nearly 30 minutes. Bell played ok and CV managed all of 15 minutes. Oh and Gadz? Well he cannot even make it on the court.

There is no doubt that this falls on Harris' shoulders. From my perspective I am just puzzled by the play of these 3 (forget Gadz). They should and can play better. But they in fact haven't played well. Is there a team who is getting less from their 5th-8th players?

I hear that Harris is fairly well respected around the league. If that's the case and Kohl is indeed pulling all the strings, I fail to see what firing him accomplishes. Outside of maybe PR.

I don't see Redd as the problem with this team as he is in fact our best player. I would like us to consider breaking up our backcourt though.

I would trade either to be honest. A dream trade for me would look like something like this. A 3 team deal where Mo, CV and a pick for Hinrich and Tyrus Thomas. I would actually consider these lineups. Ivey-Hinrich-Redd-Yi-Bogut. Or Hinrich-Redd-Yi-TT-Bogut.

Chapter, I think a Hinrich/Redd backcourt has massive potential. You have one of the game's top SGs and (prior to this season) one of the game's top young PGs who has been an impact player on both ends of the court. I think pairing Hinrich with Redd would put the Bucks in a very strong position to improve. I just don't see the Bucks and Bulls as being good trade partners. The Bucks don't have what Chicago badly needs (post scoring).

Yep I know. That's why I said a 3 way. Not going to happen obviously, but if I am the GM that's that type of changes I would like to see. Redd for Roy for example. Again not going to happen, but that type of player at either position is needed.

Mo is a very good player, whom I feel is earning his salary. Very good trade value. Better than Redd probably as he would dictate a terrible contract in return. Redd is not entirely earning his salary thus making a trade more difficult as well.

It's easy, you trade mo or redd and package them with simmons for a solid pg or sg and an upgrade at small forward.

I don't care who goes, but they need to be split up and take simmons with them.

I start to think that Mo is better player than Redd and better SG than Redd. Considering age and contract there is no way I trade Mo before Redd. Now, Mo is still not very good PG and it is shame to use such a great scorer as PG. I would trade Redd for real PG and play Mo at his natural SG position.

i'm confused by this, so the fact that normally reasonably competent back ups are suddenly playing like sh** is the gms fault?

Looks like you were thinking the same thing.

Yeah I have a hard time blaming Harris too. When he got these backups, that is what the market demanded they be paid. We all loved the Simmons signing for example but how could we ever know injury issues would make him what he is today? I suppose you could argue that he should be a better judge of character and have known Gadz would just settle in life and not strive to improve anymore and in fact regress. However every GM makes bad moves as it is hard to know those kind of things. the thing is in basketball where you have so few players, a mistake becomes multiplied in a sense. If TT in GB or Melvin for the Brewers make a mistake, it doesnt affect the org nearly as much as there are so many more players.

If we are not going to break up the core, what we need to do is get a damn starting SF already who plays D and is a leader. He doesn't have to be a star but he does have to lead in other ways. I remember when Michael Curry was here and he was a leader and a good defender. If we could get another guy like that, I would at least be happier with the SF spot. If we could get a Artest or Battier type player, I would be jumping for joy.

I don't blame Harris for the fact certain players are playing poorly. I do blame him when warranted for some of the players who are playing poorly being on the team in the first place.
