Mo or Redd. Who is better player?

Post#1 » by Sigra » Sun Jan 13, 2008 1:37 am

Mo always had his fans and Redd always had his fans. But these days it looks like "neutral" fans start to think that maybe Mo is better than Redd right now. I would like to see how that looks on paper. What is our opinon about that now.

Both were 2nd round picks, probably because of their lack of athleticism.
Both are terrible defenders (mostly because of lack of effort) and both are not very smart when they have "compicate" decision to make. At offense, both can shoot and both can go inside. However it looks like Mo can do that with coordination with his teamates while Redd can't. Mo showed that he can play PG but last few games he has been better solution for SG than Redd in most of this season. Redd is taller but beside that it looks like Mo has all of his qualities without some of his defects. Mo is clutch while Redd is not for example. Mo has better chemistry with teamates. Mo is leader while Redd is not. Mo doesn't force as much as Redd. Mo pass when double teamed while Redd shot over 2 and sometimes even 3 defenders. Redd drible with his head down while Mo doesn't have that problem. Mo play with pride while Redd is relaxed and friendly with oponents even at the end of game.

It is clear who I prefer isn't it  And I didn't even talk about how Mo is younger or how Redd has bigger contract.

So lets vote. Who is better player right now? Mo or Redd?

Mo is younger, has a fair contract though ppl on these boards complain about Mo's contract, and he gets players involved alot more then Redd.

I love them both but I do not like them together, and contract and age is the reason I take Mo over Redd

Give me Mo.

We'll get a lot more in a Redd trade than a Mo trade.

please explain why...redd's value is incredibly high...JVG molested Redd verbally last night...he stated redd is one of the premier scorers in the league...in the right situation, Redd could be a great 2 man behind a big man like D Howard...we could get a great deal from redd...at least that's my impression

See my signature...

There's more to basketball then just scoring. In a game of 1 on 1 I take Mike....in a team basketball game there is no doubt in my mind its Mo.

Mo gets my vote. I used to love Redd. But he doesnt get others involved and never has. He either lights it up for 30 plus a game one night with a couple dimes OR shoots 9 of 31 and has 8 or 9 rebounds becasue he's busy tracking down his bricks he throws up.

Mo is much more balanced and becoming the leader on this team!

I like Mo more on this team, but Redd is a far better basketball player. If it was "Who is a better value for the Bucks?", I would definitely vote Mo instead of Redd, but Redd gets my vote for better player.

I would rather have Mo on my team than Redd.
But if I'm an opponent, I would rather play against Mo than Redd.

Redd on a good day is an allstar caliber player, Mo is not. But Redd on a bad day is a team killer, whereas Mo is not.

Can't make up my mind. :dontknow:

I doubt it. I think the difference is that we would likely get a similar type talent in return, but with Redd because he is a little bit overpaid and a max salary we will likely have to take back a bad contract.

I would sooner trade Mo get the same type talent in return and still have Redd to fill the designated shooter role.

In response to Sigra's post.

I like both. Redd is a more elite level scorer for sure, its not even close.

Mo is a more complete player. The sad part is that you are not getting away with starting a 6 ft SG. Please and don't give me AI as example as to it being done. AI is in fact a superstar and at least he is a hawking type defender where Mo is not. AI is also probably better suited at PG due to size, but is a SG at heart much like Mo.

The only way we could get away with Mo at SG is if we have a big strong PG who can guard either G effectively. Even then its less then ideal.

A Hinrich-Redd backcourt beats out a Hinrich-Mo backcourt easily.

you could argue that Mo is a stephen hawking type defender i guess

Lame jokes aside, Mo seems to be more effective offensively at SG than at PG. Sure, he's a poor defender at SG, but is he much better defensively at PG?

He's gonna need solid defenders at the other guard spot and the small forward spot next to him, no matter which position he plays.

Mo. He has showed that when he plays SG he can score comparatively to Redd while also obviously being a better creator. He is definitely more clutch than Mike as well. I think he has less instances where he bogs down the offense than Redd as well.

Mo, this year, has been our top player.

Neither player plays great defense (Redd is still better than Mo there), so it boils down to offense.

Mo is simply not in Redd's class as an offensive player. If Mo was the target of opposing defenses every night, he definitely wouldn't put up the offensive numbers that Redd has put up being the focus of team defenses for years.

Mo is clearly the better passer/playmaker, but both Royal Ivey and Charlie Bell and pretty much every point guard in the league is a better playmaker than the vast majority of the league's shooting guards.

I think better player and better fit are two different circumstances when addressing the question posed here.

Redd clearly is the better player, but Mo may be a better fit for the team. If I had to keep one of the two, I'd still keep Redd because of his elite features.

I guess it is how you would define better....I am not an overwehlming fan of either player because of there core weaknesses I value in a basketball player (defense, unselfishness, high basketball IQ) but I have noticed something thats pretty undeniable and this is the fact that Mo seems to have a good chemistry with his teammates. Mo seems particularly better with the young bigs, mostly Bougt, but now that I think of it has Redd ever really had good chemistry with any former or current teammates? I just don't see that chemistry at all with Redd.
