OT-Guitar Hero 3
For those of you who have this game and are pretty good at it. I passed every song on medium with 5 stars on either the 1st or 2nd try. It wasn't very hard at all. So after beating Lou I decide to try hard. OMG. I can't get more than 3 songs on any of the first tier songs. Any advice on how to incorporate the 5th note and how to play the split notes better?

Just slide your hand down 1 fret for the 5th note. Use your pinky. As for the split notes, there's really no strategy involved for that. It's all about awareness and just knowing where your fingers are. You'll get better as you play more.
I've been playing Expert since the first Guitar Hero. I'm not one of those crazy kids you see on youtube who can get like 99% on Lou, but I'm pretty good.

I'm good but i'm not freakishly good at it.
I can beat all the expert songs up until the last set.
The only tips I have would to be pick a song on a difficulty that you can't play, and then just keep playing it, over and over, and practice it on a slower speed a little bit. Eventually it won't seem so fast and you will know what you are doing. Once you beat 1 expert songs it seems like you can beat them all.
Also I have pretty big hands so I don't use my pinky on the orange note unless it's an orange green combo, otherwise my other 4 fingers work fine.
Another thing is don't always try to use the same fingers on the same notes, use whatever fingers are closest after the last note and you won't be thinking about what fingers you want to use.

Also, as a side note, the graphics are a little better too (though no dramatic differences).
I was the same way for a while (awesome on medium, awful on hard) and it seems many people get stuck at that point. If you obsess over it you'll get better though.
I'm stuck on "raining blood" on hard, if i didn't know any better I'd swear it's impossible.
