Unless we can get another Superstar like T-mac. You really think other Free Agents and stars are gonna wanna play for this dump if we trade away our best player??? We had to beg Yi, an unproven player from China to even visit Milwaukee let alone sign here. We will never ever get a big name free agent to come here if we trade Redd, especially if we don't get back another All-Star. Look at how much we had to pay Mo' and Gadz just to resign with us. Look at how much we had to pay a journeymen who put up decent numbers 1 year on a bad clippers team (Bobby Simmons). Trading Redd or Mo' isn't the answer, getting a good GM/Coach and putting players around them that don't suck is.

Redd not a superstar to begin with.

What's the point in trading him for someone like T-Mac? It would have no real impact at all on the teams success. If anything it could be negative.

Yi's situation was entirely different to that of 99.9% percent of FA's, in that he knew virtually nothing about america and was being pushed hard by his handlers to only go to a big city with a large chinese market. To the best of my knowledge there aren't many FA's in that position. Bobby Simmons has not worked out at this point, but at that time looked to be worth the money we paid, or at least close to it. I don't think having a young team with two very promising bigs and a developing PG would be entirely unattractive to the right FA, I also don't think trading away a guy seen to be selfish on the court is the wrong message to an FA, after all that's not the kind of guy we would want in return anyway. FA's answer to money first and foremost, with the odd exception usually being the veteran who will take less money for a ring.

I used T-Mac as an example because he's the only All-Star that I've seen mentioned so far in all these Trade Redd threads that I see popping up. Redd isn't the problem, everyone not named Redd, Mo', or Bogut is.

Who is the biggest free agent the Milwaukee Bucks have ever signed? How about in the last 5 years?

There is no evidence or anything you can suggest that would point towards a big name free agent wanting to sign with this team. I'd only trade Redd if a gauranteed talent is brought in.

How is Redd selfish?? The rest of the guys do nothing but stand around and stare at him when he has the ball. You never see anyone on the our team make any cuts or run off any other screens while Redd has the ball.

T-Mac uninjured would be great, but those days are gone. The only reason I keep pushing for Redd to be traded is his value, there are teams that would want him.


Redd can score but how many scorers do we want on this team and if we continue to play like we have we will have a top 10 draft pick again and that brings us another player who wants to shoot and it wouldn't work.

If its not Redd then it has to be Yi and Bogut and I would not trade either as they have more upsize then Redd.
Upsize then him because they are young and have alot of potential while Redd has reached his and our team is no better

I want to be clear I don't necessarily advocate trading Redd, certainly not for most of the deals I've seen on here anyway, but not for the reasons you mentioned. I think if you read through the board you'll see how Redd is seen as being as a selfish player, rightly or wrongly. Those rhythm dribble iso's to fadeaway 3's in fourth quarters aren't a great sign of team play, and i would have though if we were going to trade him that his lack of being able to fit in to 'team play' would have been one of the major reasons. I don't think that sends the wrong message to the right FA at all.

I agree it's quite foolish to dump Redd for cap space, pin our hopes on a top tier talent wanting to sign with us, and magically hope a championship comes out of the sky.

Two situations I'd keep a very close eye on are the Iggy situation in Philly and the Josh Smith situation in Atlanta. Iggy has been complaining about his situation and perhaps he would like a change of scenery. I'm not sure that Philly would be interested in Redd, but you never know.

Josh Smith in Atlanta is another situation. They chose not to extend him before the season and their ownership situation is still a mess. He's been called a bad seed a number of times, perhaps they would be interested in Redd.

Both of those situations are highly unlikely. But until a deal presents itself that is truly worth it. We are better off just keeping Redd. Once his contract years go down, his value will go back up as long as his game does not taper off.

Perhaps when Redd only has a year or two left on his deal more teams would be willing to offer something of appealing value for him

Atlanta has Joe Johnson, who they would not trade straight up for Redd, so there is no chance of them being a trade partner.

Hmmm 3 more years of assured mediocrity or at least a roll of the dice...

Why are you assured of mediocrity with Redd on your team? If this was true, then nobody around the NBA would want them on their team. He wouldn't have been selected for Team USA.

If anything, we'll be stuck in mediocrity due to the mediocre talent surrounding Redd. Imagine a Josh Smith or AK47 complementing Redd's game. Bringing in a player like that would make sense, and we'd look good.

But no, we had to put players around Redd who all look for jump shots and play worse defense than he does. It's not Redd's fault that LH doesn't know how to find complements to players.

Because we are paying a guy who is not even an ALL-STAR as if he were a max player (a LeBron, a Duncan, a Howard, a Yao, etc)

No, were not good trade partners with them one on one.

But thats not to say a three way trade isn't out of the question.


Bad examples, I'm just trying to say the Bucks have to be willing to wait to receive good value.

If the Wizards can turn Kwame Brown into Caron Butler.

I have to believe Redd can find us a quality starter.

i would put that down to the players knowing that when the ball finds redd, it has made its last pass. in the past the offense has really stagnated when he was on the floor, there is significantly less movement. though it could be a chicken/egg thing.
