Andrew Bogut...All Star??

I was just looking at the NBA all-star ballot for the east and IMO Andrew Bogut (if he continues at his current level) should be an all-star. Howard is a lock of course, but other than him Bogut has got to be the number two center in the east. I am not totally sure if it is a requirement that two centers make it, but if so I beleive it should definitely be Bogut. Even if it is up to the coaches vote I would see Bogut being the next in line at the center position. What do you guys think?

The Bucks will have to be .500-ish or better by the time the coaches vote or there's no way he'd even be considered.

Shaq will probably make it based on reputation over Bogut. I'd like them to just skip voting on a backup center for this all-star game and give the all-star spot to someone who actually deserves it at another position.

Heh. He's only averaging 13 9 2 2 and the coaches don't like those numbers, even though they are pretty good. If he gets his points up to like 15, possible I think, then I think he may get the coaches vote.

Shaq might get the nod because he acts like such a clown during all star weekend and people seem to enjoy his antics. But IMO Bogut definitely deserves strong consideration this year. He has truly developed into the inside force that we've been seeking for the last couple decades.

Yeah, i am saying this because the east is really thin when it comes to legit big men.

Bogut will need to keep making noise every night and the Bucks will need to win games. It's not totally out of the question but I wouldn't bank on it...there are a ton of former all-stars with similar numbers and it will be hard to break out of that group.
Bogut has better numbers across the board than Rasheed but given team performance and reputation Bogut will have to keep playing like he has for the next few weeks to have a shot IMO.
Shaq's numbers suck for him but he still scores more than either Bogut or Rasheed. He doesn't deserve to go because his team sucks and he's been hurt a lot, but he could very well get a charity pick.
Ilgauskas has slowed down a lot after a fast start but his numbers are still very close to Drew's.
Then you have some like JO who's having an awful season for him but he's still got competitive numbers compared to the East's other centers.

The coaches vote for the bench players.

I would agree.
I think with a huge off-season improvement again.. he will be playing like he is now but with more consistency out the gates. No matter what.. with our small market, all the big names and old bums like Shaq will still get all the votes.

I have to believe somebody like Bosh will be picked to play center out of position, allowing the coaches to find somebody like jamison to fill their Pf back-up slot. Despite how much you love him, Bogut isn't going to be picked ahead of Bosh or jamison. the coaches picking players out of position does have precedence as does plaing players on the all star ballot out of position to ensure two super stars don't compete for the same spot.
Do you actually believe bogut would be picked over Shaq, Okafur and Zman? whe n it comes to getting the snub for the all star game, Milwaukee fans should look at the past and accept the fact their players will always get the all star and olympic snubs. Nothing bucks players do is ever good enough for other coaches to select them to the team. maybe bucks players are just too boring for Stern's taste.

I don't see how he would get picked over Ilgauskas and Okafor who both are having a better season stats wise.

I am to lazy to look at their stats now, but I would guess that Bogut's numbers are very close to both of them. I am also assuming that he keeps up at his current pace(19/10) going into all-star weekend.

if any coach has seen bogut's play over the past month or so, he's get the nod over both those guys no question.
he has to keep this going right up until the selection point. you've got to recall how many coaches in the past few games have had to make game plan changes when bogut came to play as the number one option over redd. if that happens to a few more teams, then he's gonna be a realistic chance.
do people not understand that the fans merely pick the starters? the bench picks are usually pretty spot-on.

okafor has been disappointing through his career so far imo. injuries have been a bitch. i expected him to be a dominant player in the league.

you're so out of your mind
so you think david stern is what's stopping bucks players from being in all star game?

I think Drew would rather have his rear end drilled for a second bumhole than be in the allstar game. Not his cup of tea. He'd rather have the weekend off, and he'd just be a downer for all those show ponies who love the hype and razzmatazz.
No doubt, Bucks fans would be thrilled though.
