OT: Heath Ledger Dead

Post#1 » by 75totheMACCfund » Tue Jan 22, 2008 10:07 pm

I guess this could have gone in the movie thread, but Heath Ledger was found dead today at his NYC apartment. I had to watch 10 things i hate about you a lot with my ex-girlfriend...So, that's sort of that.

He worked hard to get out of being typecast as the pretty boy. Looks like he'll have made a great Joker before going. Too bad, talented guy, and 28 is too young.

Heard a rumor that one of the Olsen twins was with him.

It's a great shame really. From most reports he appeared to be a bit of a douche, but then again it was probably because he really didn't like the fame and publicty etc. that came with the acting. No doubt he was definitely one of the better actors in the industry today.

Supposedly pills found all around him. Sounds like suicide, homicide with suicide as cover, or drug overdose.

Wow, that's terrible. Always liked him as an actor and I"m really looking forward to seeing him as the Joker.

Dude, stop watching CSI

But yeh, it's all over the television down here and the pills have been mentioned, which leads to the mandatory 'what a selfish prick he has a 2 year old daughter' comments. I guess they are warranted to some degree.

He looked like he was going to be an excellent Joker. It's **** awful whenever a life ends, let alone at 28.

I've heard rumors he was found at Mary Kate Olsen's apartment in NY. Not sure if that's been confirmed yet.

Yeah this is going to be a major blow to the Australian film industry. Heath Ledger was indeed a douche, but he was definitely one of Australia's best acting talents. It is shocking to say the least.

very sad.

What terrible news.

Absolutely one of Australia's finest actors.
However he appeared to shun the spotlight.

I always thought of him as an actor's actor.

Tragic.
And now it's over to...Moira

Odds on a journalist asking Andrew about his feelings on the news in the locker room after his team has just lost by 30 points?

That is sad. When I heard he was going to play the Joker i groaned a little bit. After I saw the second trailer for Dark Knight I was sold on him not only as a great choice, but a great actor overall to make me forget about Nicholson as the Joker. There will be a lot of hype around this movie as if there wasn't already.

A terrible tragedy, and a real waste. The guy was seriously on the rise in the movie world, by all accounts his role as the joker in the dark knight is just downright scarey. RIP
