Ok I just came back from seeing this movie with great expectations. I just want to say this was one of the worse movie experiences in my life. I can see what they were trying to do but it just didn't work for me. The acting by the main characters was just horrible which set the tone for the movie. And if you thought you saw the worse movie ending so far you have not seen anything yet.

I thought the creature would look cool and creepy but it was the worse design I seen. For a movie with so much hype they really let me down.

I give it 2 thumbs down and a wink for the effort.

I actually liked it, especially for what it was. There will definitely be a sequel as well. And I actually thought the creature was badass.

To each is own though. Went with 4 friends, myself and 2 others liked it, one hated it.

I liked monster movies as a kid so I will be seeing it sooner or later.

I have heard probably 50/50 love or hate this movie. Really haven't heard much in between.

a sequel ........................................why?

some movies I can accept things...but they expect you to accept everything they throw at you....it was just to much.

Why? Because it raked in 41 million in the first three days. They have made more then double what was predicted. And the reviews have been pretty good. Also it was genius marketing, having the reviews debut during the Transformer release day. Not to mention they will have plenty more to work with and much more of a budget for a sequel. It's not a matter of why, but when.

I loved it, without question. Never before in a movie like this (monster, suspense, horror) have I actually felt like I was there before.

To each his own, I know there's plenty of people who just didn't like it. It's not an "I thought it was OK" flick, you liked it or didn't.

And I doubt there'll be a sequel. I don't know how they'd be able to do one.

I think a HUGE part of it doing so well on the first weekend was of the hype........this movie was a huge mystery up until last month...the way it was hyped I can see why people went to see it...I can see why some people might love it but it was just to much for me to accept . I cannot get past the bad acting...

"Oh my God...Oh My God" for 2 hours.

didn't you stay until the end? Where the faint, dying voice is straining "It's still alive" while there was static on the screen? Clearly the thing is still alive, it wasn't even touched. It's left open for a lot more to happen.

I don't know, maybe Voltron, defender of the universe might have to come in and beat this things ass. 8)

This movie had hype unlike any other. Since July this thing has been around. Snakes On A Plane tried something like this and failed. JJ Abrams took what they did right and improved on it, making the online buzz worth looking at.

I didn't mind the acting so much aside from Hud (i.e. camera guy) who felt unrealistic, but if a 25 story tall monster was chasing me around, I would think the phrase "Oh My God" would be uttered quite often.

LOL, dude it's a horror flick, what do you expect them to say "Well, there is a monster owning New York, let's slowly form a line and calmly and carefully evacuate New York City while this freakish beast is throwing 80 story buildings around"

ok You got me... ...maybe the girl just got on my nerves....I am just judging this movie based on the hype....like how Skip Bayless judges Lebron James.

I am one who thought it was just OK. If there is going to be a sequal, it won't be an entirely new story. It will have the exact same monster doing the same attack but from another angle, or I guess video camera.

There is supposed to be a sequel. If any of you who haven't seen it don't want to be spoiled, don't read any further.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Supposedly JJ Abrams has said a key part of the movie is the last scene where Rob and Beth are on the ferris wheel. He pans the camera out to the ocean and if you look close enough you can see a satellite crash into the ocean. Apparently it was launched into the ocean by the very same company that Rob was going to work for in Japan, and it is the thing that "awakes" the monster. It's supposed to be key info for the sequel.

oh interesting...I thought that shot of the ocean was peculiar.....

ok it's not the worse movie but I still don't think it lived up to the hype. ...maybe it did just go see it and judge for yourselves.

Yeah, I've heard about that too, and it would kind of anger me because personally:

If there was going to be a sequel, I'd want these characters to be in it, and I doubt they would, since at least 3 of them died. Don't know what happened to Lily, and after the credits there's an audio clip of Rob whispering "It's Still Alive."
