Redd vs. Kobe

Post#1 » by CBUCK06 » Mon Jan 28, 2008 5:14 am

They are clearly different guys off of the court. Redd appears to truly be a good, decent man. But this topic is about on the court...

Never ever thought I'd be posting this, but who is the greedier guard? KB is playing more team ball then Redd right now.

Hard to believe but Bogut is a different player w/o Redd.

Will this be a different team with Bogut, Mo and Yi as the main offensive weapons?

We have not been without a high scoring SG since the mid 1990's (Ray now Redd).

Interesting...

even when Kobe was selfish he still carried his team into the playoffs in the hard western conference...Redd is not on the same block as Kobe....don't ever mention Redd's name in the same sentence as Kobe...

Kobe is a better player than Redd. Kobe has better players around him. Kobe has a better owner. Kobe has a better coach.

Kobe playing at his greediest still makes the others around him better more than Michael Redd does at his least selfish.

Kobe is one of the hardest working individuals in the NBA...I don't believe he is a guy like redd who is greedy because "he feels insulted about not making the all-star team."

I believe he gets greedy because he feels like he's the team's best option to win and for the past couple of seasons he has been the best option for the lakers to win. He's all about winning, not stats.

As Bynum has grown in his play this year, Kobe has deferred to him showing he can be the team player when has people around him, oh and he plays incredible defense...

Yep, give Michael Redd a better team, Dr. Jerry Buss, and Phil Jackson and he'd be as good as Kobe.

Kobe is a lot better than Mike, and he is playing team basketball in this period (he has Odom, Farmar, Fish; he had Bynum...), but if we would have lost a home game with Redd playing a fourth quarter like the one Kobe played yesterday against the Cavs, this place would have been a war field.

They have one of the best record in the West but they have a game and a half over the 9th seeded team: they are not even sure they are going to the playoffs!!! They will also have to play a lot more games without Bynum...

Comparing anybody to Bean is blasephmy IMO.

put Bean on this team and we're fighting for homecourt in the first round right now.

Mo
Bean
Simmons
Yi
Bogut

He makes everyone better and play at a higher level on presence alone. One can only dream.
"didnt you watch the game with the raptors?bucks is also a playoff team ,they have enough ability to find wins from dalas and utach,

Exactly. And yet the "Redd is not Kobe" threads always pop up.

This is not a comparison on the real value, obviously.

Redd : Bucks = Kobe : Lakers

I believe the interesting topic of this thread is: "These are 2 selfish players, but both can, when they want, improve their teammates". Kobe is doing so this year (but he has better teammates and a better coach than Redd, even if a better overall conference), Redd only at times, even if I would have been happy this summer with him averaging 23-5-4. We asked him for a 25-5-5 kind of season, he is not too shy from that. Last year he was 27-4-2. So he is showing improvements, even if not huge ones. To me he needs TIME and PATIENCE; with more experience from his teammates he can do well.

I don't think anyone's comparing Redd and Kobe's ability; no one's Kobe. It's how they dominate the ball on offense. And it's a fair comparison. The difference is that Kobe is in his own league ability-wise. That's why Kobe can play like that and still win a decent amount of games...

But even Kobe's team can't be top tier with him playing like that. If you play like that and you're not Kobe? Hello, lottery.
