Chad Ford Speculates On Villanueva To Lakers

Interesting speculation from Ford's chat today:
Dan (Anaheim, CA): Should the Lakers pull out of the Jason Kidd sweepstakes? They look like their PG situation is secure and they need help in the frontcourt more than the guard position
SportsNation Chad Ford: I think if they could get Kidd for relatively little (Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton and Vlad Radmanovic) they'd do it. But they don't want to give up Jordan Farmar for a guy who will only play a year or two. I wonder about a deal with the Bucks. They're shopping Charlie Villanueva and Dan Gadzuric. Maybe a deal for Kwame and Crittenton would work for Milwaukee.

I would love this trade if it happened. I like Crittenton quite a bit and I've been talking for months about trying to acquire Kwame's expiring contract. This would be a no-brainer for the Bucks in my opinion.

No possible way this happens.

To get rid of Gadzuric I guess I would take this
I hate Kwame as a player. As an expiring contract he's great.
CV blows up immediately after being traded. Watch.
A local UCLA legend returns home and Gadz can make fun of Kareem since he broke his blocks record at UCLA

CV would love being with his buddy Lamar Odom and Phil Jackson would get every ounce of energy from him and turn him into the sixth man of the year in 2008-2009

Kwame is pure garbage.....whats Mihm's deal have left? Rad?.....Crittenton would be that big ,young, PG this team has been dying for...possible...but i doubt we see a trade.

kwame is a horrible player but crittenton could be a star. this would just lead to more speculation about moving mo in the near future.

I would do it. This is clearly a rebuilding move, not a move to win now.

Kwame is pure garbage but the appeal would be his expiring contract. You remove Gadz's bloated contract, take Kwame for half a season and then let him go.
The key would be Villanueva for Crittenton. Given Chad Ford's connection to Harris, I wonder if he has some info which suggests Harris is trying to trade for Crittenton. He is almost always spot on when it comes to the Bucks, even when he's just tossing possible speculation. He tends to do so based on info he's gotten from the Bucks (i.e. Harris). This would be the second rumor about the Bucks trying to trade for a PG (Acie Law being the other). I find that quite interesting.
Has Mo bought his new house yet?

Getting Kwame's expiring contract for Crapareach would be something I would drool over. Even though Kwame is almost(notice I said almost) as bad as Gadzuric, he's expiring and gives us money. Crittenton I really like too. But this deal is too good to be true.

Kwame may be garbage, but he's better than gadz, and a better defender than villanueva. And we only have to keep him for one year, and then his 9 million dollar contract comes off the books. Then we make a big free agent signing next year and continue rebuilding.

Mihm doesn't make enough for the trade to work. Radmanovic has a bad, long term deal.
Kwame would be the best, he's an expiring of course the Bucks will probably give him like 5 years $50 million in the offseason because "It's hard to find good, young, defensive bigs like Kwame."

Yeah the Lakers fans are relentless on Kwame.
I can't imagine the Lakers making this trade but I guess you never know. I am for it 100 percent.

This is what NBADraft.net had to say about Crttenton last year:
Strengths: Tremendous combination of size, athleticism and playmaking ability ... Quick first step ... Excellent vision and passing skills ... His size allows him to see over defenders and make passes that the average 6-2 PG could not ... Shows great heart, very competitive. Wont back down from a challenge ... Very quick, an elite level athlete ... Loves to dunk on players ... Excellent body strength ... Rhythm shooter, with good slashing and scoring ability ... His huge hands give him excellent control of the ball ... Very unselfish player ... Excellent foot speed, overall quickness and effort makes him a tough defensive player ... Works hard to improve his game, very coachable ... Has a great attitude, confident but not cocky ...
Weaknesses: Needs to improve upon his outside shot, which is solid but can improve ... Can be too unselfish at times trying to get everyone involved when he is the top scoring option ... Can be too aggressive defensively and get caught reaching, picking up unnecessary fouls ... Needs to prove himself on the college level. Become a great decision maker and learn to lead a team on the next level ...His ability to play the point guard position is very good, but he can continue to improve upon dictating tempo and learning the nuances of the position ...
you kidding me?? A potential Buck player who's weakness might be that he is to unselfish?

I'm not sure what you mean by "big free agent signing" but just to be clear, this wouldn't all of a sudden mean we could go out and sign someone to a contract with a first year salary of $9 mil. We would be limited to the MLE, something we would have available to us whether or not we did a trade like that.
If an MLE signing is what you mean by "big free agent signing" and you are taking the position that the above trade would be helpful in that endeavor because we might not currently have the will to hand out a full MLE contract without shedding other salary first, that is certainly an arguable position.

The Bucks better stay away. They prefer selfish players that don't play defense.
