Sessions Recalled From D-League

I know that there is a Noel and Sessions D-League thread. That said, how many people check it on a regular basis I do not know. I thought this was newsworthy of its own thread. If MD or PP think otherwise, that's okay. Lock it up.

Sessions was recalled from the D-League. Our team sucks, so I really hope he has the opportunity to play.

The Milwaukee Bucks have recalled guard Ramon Sessions from the Tulsa 66ers of the NBA Development League (D-League), General Manager Larry Harris announced today. Sessions was assigned to the D-League on November 8, 2007.

Sessions appeared in 24 games (17 starts) with Tulsa, averaging a team-high 21.1 points (6th in the D-League), a team-high 7.6 assists (3rd in the D-League) and 6.5 rebounds (19th in the D-League) in 36.2 minutes per contest. His points, rebounds and assists add up to 35.2 per game, eighth in the league. Sessions is the only player to be named the D-League Performer of the Week twice this season, claiming the award on November 26, 2007 and January 28, 2008.

A 6-3 guard out of Nevada, Sessions was the 56th overall selection by the Bucks in the 2007 NBA Draft. He has been on assignment in Tulsa for the entire D-League season. He was joined by Bucks teammate David Noel on January 20. Sessions played in five preseason games with the Bucks, averaging 1.4 points, 1.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 7.0 minutes of action.

Excellent. At least this way he can get his feet wet in the NBA as opposed to just being thrown in at the deep end next season when what he does will actually matter.

Is it too much to take this as a sign that we're strongly considering a Mo trade? It's probably just cuz redd is going to be otu longer (great).

I don't know why they'd do this unless...

...they think he's ready to play and he's going to take minutes from someone.
...there's an as yet unannounced long-term injury.
...there's a trade coming.

Honestly,
I couldn't get through at the end of the pro hoops show, and was going to ask Larry K this. With the sucess Ramon Sessions is having in Tulsa, is there any thought to calling him up in the near future?" I wonder what his response would have been

I'm going tomorrow night, so I want to see about 15 minutes from Sessions. ****, it can't hurt the team any more than they are now

I'd assume it has more to do with this:

Mo Williams-G- Bucks Jan. 31 - 11:34 pm et

Bucks' point guard Mo Williams revealed on Thursday that he sustained ligament damage in his right thumb during a game on November 21st, which will likely require surgery once the season is over. "I'm going to have to have surgery on it," Williams said. "It just depends on when I want to do it. My intentions are to do it when the season is over."

Wait are we removing someone from the active roster?

I thought we were at 15 players already?

Hmm.

I don't see why we would recall Sessions if he wasn't going to come up here and get some regular minutes (even if we're just talking about 10mpg).

The thing is, Desmond Mason is also back for our next game, as is Redd. I'd have to guess w're talking about adding at least 60 minutes of players into our rotation on Saturday. Where are those 60 minutes coming from?

Storey obviously will get his minutes cut to zero and will almost certainly be moved to the inactive list. Noel is already on it. Who will be the third guy on the inactive list, since Sessions would presumably be on the active list. Ruffin? Gadzuric? I'm guessing Gadzuric.

And/or this COULD be a prelude to an upcoming trade where we are sending out one or more of our PGs (Mo, Bell, Ivey) without getting an equal number of PGs back, hence the need for Sessions.

Sessions is already on the 15 man roster, you don't leave the roster when you get allocated to the D-League.

Glad they called him up, but that doesn't mean he will see any minutes.

Our total roster is 15 players, but Sessions is part of that total even when he is assigned to the NBADL.

We will indeed have to put someone else on the inactive roster each night if we plan on putting Sessions on the active roster each night.

Our last inactive list featured Redd, Desmond Mason, Noel and Sessions, one more player than necessary leaving us with only an 11 man active roster, due to injuries and NBADL assignments.

Theoretically all but Noel will be on the active list on Saturday. So we will need to pick two other players to make inactive

It makes zero sense to call him up now unless the team expected him to play at least some minutes for whatever reason (injury, poor play, foul trouble etc.). If not, he's better served getting as much experience as he can in the D League. So assuming the former is in play, then either Mo's injury is more serious than the team is letting on or Redd's is more serious than the team is letting on (meaning Mo plays primarily at SG, creating a spot for a reserve PG) or a move is being made.

But given how this is the Bucks we're talking about, they could be stunting his development by having him rot on the end of the bench for no good reason.

Maybe not, but anything's possible. This is the Bucks after all.
