Redd might not play against Rockets

Sessions returns; Redd still limited

St. Francis - The Bucks recalled guard Ramon Sessions from the NBA Development League, and he practiced with the team today in a 1-hour, 20-minute session at the Cousins Center.

Sessions might be needed on Saturday night when the Bucks play the Houston Rockets, due to a sore right thumb which is bothering point guard Mo Williams and a left knee strain that has sidelined shooting guard Michael Redd for the past three games. Redd did not practice today but was able to shoot on his own.

The 6-foot-3 Sessions appeared in 24 games with Tulsa in the D-League, and he recently was named the league's player of the week for the second time. He averaged 21.1 points and 7.6 assists with the 66ers while playing 36.2 minutes per game.

"I think he's a guy that can help us, and he brings some competitiveness to our practices, for sure," Bucks coach Larry Krystkowiak said. "We didn't know what was going on with Mike. We've got some guys that are banged up.

"It makes sense in a number of ways to have him around and being part of what we're doing."

Sessions played in five exhibition games with the Bucks but did not appear in a regular-season game.

"I don't want to consider it as much an insurance policy as it is a win-win for everybody."

Williams took a hit on his sore thumb in practice.

The good injury news regarded forward Desmond Mason, who took part in practice and showed plenty of energy. Mason, who underwent right thumb surgery on Dec. 22, said he will be available on Saturday, six weeks to the day after he suffered the injury against Sacramento.

"I've never sat out this long in my career," Mason said. "There are a lot of emotions, and I'm ready to go play."

Mason said he believes there are ways he contribute right away.

"I think I'm going to go out and do what I do," he said. "Obviously, I like to get into guys on the defensive end of the floor. But also, coach wants to get out and run a little bit more and be a faster team, and I think I can bring that to the team.

"Right now we're struggling a little bit, on a roller-coaster ride. But we can get it going pretty quick."

Redd said he is making progress but isn't sure if he will be ready to face the Rockets.

"I'm working hard," Redd said. "I have to continue to get my quad strong; it's still a little weak. I've been in three times a day, working out.

"I want to play. It's a matter of making a wise decision, listening to what the doctors say, the trainers say. It's a matter of getting it right."

It's entirely within the realms of possibilities. Anyway, he's such a soft player.

Redd haters are so pathetic.

If he comes back and plays it is only because they are on national TV.

If he is really hurt and sits then he is 'soft'.

Give me a break.

Face it, Redd lovers: he sucks as a team captain, as a team leader, and as a max player.
