He steps up like a man and takes the blame on himself for the blowout in Philly.

Bogut takes some blame for Philly debacle

St. Francis - While most of the media attention at practice today centered on Saturday night's Yi-Yao show, Andrew Bogut had a little fun with it.

Asked if he had seen that many cameras and microphones at the Bucks' practice facility, Bogut said with a smile, "The Packers might have been practicing here today. I don't know what's going on here."

But the 7-foot center's mood turned a bit more serious when he addressed the Bucks' 112-69 loss to Philadelphia on Wednesday night.

"It's deflating when you get blown out by a team that has the same record as you," Bogut said. "I had a horrible game, personally. I think I let the team down. I didn't hit shots in the first half when they were going to me, and the game was over at halftime, pretty much."

Bogut finished with five points on 2-of-8 shooting, and he had four rebounds, four assists and five turnovers in 30 minutes.

But he hopes to do better when the Bucks and 7-foot rookie Yi Jianlian meet 7-6 Yao Ming and the Houston Rockets at the Bradley Center.

"I've got to be more aggressive the next game, not turn the ball over and make shots when I've got the opportunity," Bogut said. "Everyone has the right to have a bad game, I guess.

"I've got to rebound from it and try to move on against Houston
."

It was good seeing Drew say that. I wish Redd would be more vocal on this team.

Redd wont ever say that he will probably say he didn't get the ball enough to do his iso moves....Redd is not a leader and will never be one.

Its good he owned up to it, but it still wasn't good to see how lethargic and careless he was during that game.

But everyone sucked that game, and nobody else owned up to it so good for Bogut I guess.

I guess it's good to see him admit his mistakes, rather than not owning up.

I liked that too. Not to say anything about Redd or Bogut as players, but these comments come off a little better than what Redd usually says after a loss.

He was in a lose-lose. Even if he met or passed his January averages and they lost by 30 in spite of a good game by him, he starts to be a "loser" like Redd, Randolph and Wade, Kobe a couple years ago, and Wilt for most of his career.

It's a seriously nice change of pace to hear someone in this league, let alone on this team, admit that they've had a poor game, that they hurt their team and generally take responisibility. It's what leaders do, and this guy is our leader. Given his last 15-20 games you might have expected to hear 'hey i've been playing good it's not my fault'. Let's hope the coaching staff maintain the faith in him.

That's the aussie coming through - honesty and frankness are qualities we cherish here.

.....And then backs up his comments with an elite performance against one of the games best bigs. That is what leaders do.
