Hear Yi, hear Yi: With assist(s) from Bucks, rookie will flourish

MILWAUKEE -- Man-crush is too strong a phrase to describe the way I feel about Yi Jianlian. Wrong word, but it's in the right dictionary.

I like this guy. I like him off the court, and I like him on it. I don't like how the Milwaukee Bucks are nurturing him -- on the court or off it -- but that can change. That will have to change if the Bucks are going to stop being the Bucks, but seeing how the franchise recently adapted to its other precocious 7-footer, Andrew Bogut, there is hope for Yi yet.

Bogut was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft, and if you follow the NBA with something resembling a passing interest, you might be thinking he's a bust. While fellow 2005 first-rounders Deron Williams and Chris Paul are becoming stars on winning teams, Bogut has been a role player on a loser. After 2

I'd say 'man-crush' would be the understatement of the century.

That article nearly made me throw up on the keyboard. You'd think Yi was the Chinese Larry Bird or something.

I'm not saying that the guy is totally full of ****, but has he ever seen how many shots Yi has blocked?

He is right about one thing, the over-rated, selfish backcourt only took 2.5 years to give Bogut the ball.

But that is due to the fact that he is not used to that level of play. When he played in China there was nobody that could block him. So he just would simple shoot over everyone. He needs try and dunk every shot around the basket and use two hands. It took Bogut until the last month to use your body to bang people and move them off you. Yi needs to do the same thing. I do not know how anybody can say he is a bust. Way too early.

This is even better, since it came out of a set play and not a break away. Slow my a**.

a guy that averages....

9 min, 3 points, 2 rebounds, .1 blocks, .3 assists, and is a 60% FT shooter

compaired to yi

27 min, 10 points, 6 rebounds, 1 block, 1 assist, and is a 83% FT shooter

That's one of the greatest dunks in a 30 point blowout game ever. You sure as hell sold me with that one.

That article was terrible. Yi's going to be a great player, but wow. This isn't surprising though, because it's coming from Gregg Doyel, who I remember last year made a classless article making fun of the Badgers after losing to Ohio State and Brian Butch who broke his arm.

That fast break was almost dismantled by the flying hotdog wrapper that almost hit him.

I like Wright, and this is kind of off-topic, but how funny is it when GS fans criticize Yi for being too skinny, then proclaim Wright the "future" PF of their team.

I dont think Yi's too skinny...Ive told you guys since this summer Yi is too slow, non-aggresive and soft..He's a weak rebounder and Yi struggles to finish anything near the hoop..I compared him to Troy Murphy and Raef LaFrentz this summer in terms of defensive ability, and I'm not backing off...

If Yi didnt have that PT promise, he's be glued to end of the bench..You guys know it..Cracks me up that a poster threw those weak numbers at me..Yi's just about the worst rebounding 7 footer ever.

I have to ask you how many rookies average 10 boards yet alone 7. He is putting better numbers than Dirks rookie year. And both started out on crappy teams.
