They better outscore Louisville by 20 in the next 17 minutes then.

They have two problems that cause them to struggle badly in some games
1. No quality big men Marquette can count on to produce
2. They shoot poorly from outside to often. With the three point shot in college ball being such a short shot, teams gotta make them to win most games when teams are pretty evenly matched talent wise. Marquette is 4-17 from three tonight and they've missed many other open two point jumpers. Can't win games when you can't make open shots.

I miss Al Maguire, Rick Majerus, and Nellie too speaking of Milwaukee hoop legends.

I certainly wouldn't be dancing in the streets or bestowing a bunch of praise on Hammond though.
It's like taking three huge dumps on your kitchen floor, then cleaning up one of them.

What i can't figure out about Crean is how he is so good at recruiting guards/small forwards, but can't rarely ever recruit quality big men.
I've always wondered that too. But honestly, I don't think he's a good coach. In that Final Four game he had 3 future NBAers in Wade, Diener, and Novak and that team got absolutely embarrassed.

Part of Marquette's problem is their lack of non conference road games, their team just isn't as prepared as they should be to travel against stiff competition. I know last night's game was home, but they do genuinely struggle on the road against decent competition, their last victory against Cincinnati doesn't qualify as such. I believe they just scheduled a home & home against Tenn & Pearl for next year, so that should help them in the future.
I will have a good laugh if Crean again loses in the first round of the NCAA's. For the amount he's paid, one would assume that Tom would have had more success than the Final Four year that came 5 years ago. Maybe this is their year, but as of right now I figure that Marquette will wind up somewhere in that 5-8 range and we'll have to see the style they're matched up against.
