Andrew Bogut: Coming back down to earth (Past 8 games)

Just thought I'd highlight this, seeing as how there was a massive thread about his improvement I think it should be pointed out that he has been regressing lately.

Over his past 8 games:

13.5 PPG
7.5 RPG
2.75 APG

1.875 BPG
.875 STL

46.6% FG%
53% FT%

2.125 TOs

This looks like it could be a cause for concern. Is Bogut regressing back to the player that he used to be? Or has he actually taken a step forwards and become a very good player?

Those are still pretty good numbers.

Outside of his rebounding, those are essentially his averages for the season, so I'd say he has had an average stretch these past 8 games. He has not completely turned the corner yet though, I need to see another January stretch from the all-star break on.

Those are decent numbers but hardly enough to name someone the savior of the franchise and rebuild around them.

Using the WinsProduced, AB in the last 8 games offered 2 all star performances; one sligthly above average for a center game; one slightly below average center game; and four pretty bad games for a center.

How did last night's game rank? I'm curious because some of his numbers (scoring and rebounding) looked poor but that was probably due in large part to missing so much time with foul trouble. On the plus side, he passed the ball very well and was very active defensively with 4 blocks. So I'm curious as to how all of that would be factored into his WinsProduced score.

Im sure Bogut would also be the first to admit he has had 4 pretty bad games. Thats the good thing about him...he takes responsibility when he plays like s$%t some of our other players should follow his lead and take some responsibility but I think they are in their own worlds and probably dont even realize when they are playing like crap.

A score of 0.009 when 1.00 is average (negatives are possible, btw). It came not from missing time, as it is a minute based measure, but by getting negatives such as from 6 fouls and shooting on .429. The two things you mention are only worth half of rebounds and made shots, so they did little to pull him that far up. His contribution per minute was below average last night, maybe because of fouls (but again not because of the time they took from him, but because they are a negative and thus when your positives are not that noteworthy, they hurt).

Thanks epi. I would agree last night's game was a below average game for Bogut. I should clarify my previous statement - I don't think his foul trouble had anything to do with his poor shooting but it did play a factor in his low rebounding total in my opinion.

It still boggles my mind how he can shoot 67% FT in college and 53% now.

I never once thought Andrew was a franchise player, so I guess those numbers don't worry me. I see him as the kind of guy who could be one of four good two-way players on a Pistons-style team. Not a Duncan or Lebron carry your team kind of player.

With CV in the line-up along with Redd and once Mo gets back, expect alot less touches for Bogut. In the first quarter last night I counted 2 post touches and I believe he was 0-2 for the quarter with 2 missed putbacks....my guess is he will go back to getting fewer touches and around 10 shots per game, this should be interesting to see.

He's still only 23. He's progressing better than Kaman and Brad Miller did at their ages/years of experience.

Whats the best way to deflect Redd criticism? Start a thread about Bogut, works every time.....everyone spent last week bitchin about Yi.

I'm not real happy to see this.....but it is interesting that he is returning to his old 12/8.5rpg......

Last night Eddy Curry seemed to push him out of position and it bothered him.....but at least now he can defensively push Eddy Curry out of position also.....so it's progress.

midway point of the 2nd quarter Bogut had 6 points, 6 rebounds, 4 blocked shots, and 3 assists...on only 6 shots....he sucks, trade him, lets build around Charlie V. he is smokin hot.

Teams started putting more pressure on Bogut. The past 8 games Bogut has seen more double teams (with AND without the ball) than he has in his entire career combined. This leads to 2 problems:

a) No one on our team can make a proper post entry pass when Bogut is fronted. At times, they'll have to reset the play just to make sure Bogut gets the ball, which leaves him with a smaller window to work with in terms of the shot clock. That scenario doesn't happen all the time, but I worry every time I see it.

b) Bogut is learning to handle these double teams, the double teams he hasn't seen since college (and even then,it was most likely from a bunch of 6'8" guys).

He's young, and adjusting to teams finally keying on him. His numbers dropping after teams started to actually notice how good he was and putting pressure on him was actually quite predictable. Did anyone here really think that Bogut would automatically adjust to those double teams with the snap of a finger and still put up 20/10?

Anyways, I could very well be off base, but those are just my observations.

I hope the folks who said they wouldn't trade Bogut and a 1st for Amare are watching ESPN right now.
