ESPN Power Rankings

Ahhh, memories.

Week 4
#7 - Bucks - Biggest surprise in the East this side of Orlando? Can't argue when the Bucks are 6-0 at home, just swept the Cavs, Lakers and Mavs in a 3-0 week and have lost only to teams with a combined record of 37-19.

Week 15
#29 - Bucks - Actually got a few e-mails last week protesting Milwaukee's drop below New York. Given Redd's recent extended absence and Saturday's home L to the Knicks with Redd in uniform, we don't expect the same this week.

Wow, guys. In a span of 11 weeks you've gone from 3rd in the East to 14th in their Power Rankings. Keep making Milwaukee proud boys. With a little more effort, you could be dead last and really give the city and state something to talk about.

Keep it up gentlemen, you're all doing one hell of a job!

Whoa, whoa, whoa, when did this happen?

Talk about a drop off.

It seems every season we are in the top 10 in the beginning of the season.

First age of the Middle Earth seems more recent.

Top 10 in the first weeks, bottom 10 in the last ones. Sad, but true.

After that week, I was arguing with a Cleveland fan (a different board) who was just up-in-arms over the fact that the Bucks were rated ahead of the Cavs. I felt like I had to explain to the poor kid how power rankings worked; they're largely based on how teams have performed in the past week in aggregation with their performance to that point in the season - not necessarily based on who is felt to actually be the better team. We were coming off of a week beating Dallas, Los Angeles, and the Cleveland themselves. We had a better win percentage at the time. But I finished off by saying how it would not stay that way, and for all we know the next week the Bucks could fall back into oblivion and lose to teams like Philly and New York...

That next week, we lost four straight games, including games against Philly and New York. Call me Mikestradomus.

I would hope that he learned a valuable power ranking lesson, but in actuality it probably just reinforced his beliefs that he's right all the time.

Looking at our Power Ranking history on ESPN, I believe we are an awesome 9-19 since the beginning of December. I know mathematically we are still very much in the playoffs hunt, but signs point to this ship not being righted. It's too bad, looking at the bottom of the power rankings, that we have by far the best record. Here's to hoping the ping pong balls bounce in our favor. Or, by some miracle, we become a good team.

Don't despair guys. There's still hope for accomplishing our goal of 36 wins. Details on the champaign celebration are forthcoming.

The sad part is that might be good enough to make the playoffs in the East...
