Bucks Fans, Let's Start Step 1: The Petition

Considering this Phase 1 of a fan revolt. As I found out, petitions are a tricky thing. Here, put together ideas of what you want said on a petition that WILL be sent to Larry Harris, Senator Kohl, Ron Walter, and whoever else of note comes up. Disregard my first petition, I just wanted the idea to be there for people to chew on. Let's get to work.

I appreciate your leadership and action on this issue, but to be truthful I think the opening statement needs to be much more thorough and attack the issues we all have, as I have started to point out in the post game thread.

But if others feel this is a better way, I digress.

Actually, to my understanding - no, it can't. I've read through the terms and rules of PeitionOnline. Rightfully so, you can't change a charter after people have already signed to it.

If I need to be stood corrected, please do so.

You guys should think through what the petition says first and debate it on this thread....then do it in a clean thread and I'll sticky it for awhile.

Personally I think if 100 of us showed up with bags over our heads and tipped off Sparky and Tom Pipines what was coming down, we'd have a better shot at things. Those type of activities would get Kohl's attention. And they couldn't kick 100 of us out of the BC.

To be honest, Kohl gets dozens of petitions and love and hate mail from constituents every day......the petition won't do much good.

But Kohl hates to be publicly embarrassed. 100 RealGM guys strong walking around the lower bowl concourse with bags would get his attention really fast.

That is a huge factor that is up in the air. Do you know how to edit it?

We can afford to wait a few days to perfect the statement of the petition. The Bucks aren't moving tomorrow. I think a strong opening statement that is professional, grammatically correct and constructed well is important.

yeah, I'll sign whatever, but as I mentioned in the post-game thread I think it'd be a good idea to get everyone's thoughts on what should be put/said in the petition.

I love people power in action. I'm a Pistons fan (don't hold it against me) but an Aussie, so I've been following the Bucks for the last couple of years. Just reading this board makes me realise changes need to be made.

We need to make a bombshell of a petition. Something riveting and thought provoking.

I signed it. Nice job. paper bags, fire ron walter signs, lets go brewers chants, and perhaps picketing before games are all very good ideas. Like every good campaign, we need a home base for people to group together. I nominate any water street bar. We should get geared up for a full onslaught for the game on the Sat. Feb. 23rd. It gives us time to prepare signs, etc. We can even notify the TV station of our intentions so hopefully they show up for our picketing if we go that route. However, we need real commitment. Not this half ass crap that usually goes down. Like when GAD tries to get people to meet up at a game or after a game and people say, I will go and then no one shows up. I will commit to this course of action fully and completely. The question is, will you? If we can't get even 10 of us to fully commit, then I have a feeling the online petition will be the best effort we will be able to put together.

Here's my initial thoughts from the postgame thread:

I'd say a petition is the least we could do. Who knows if it would actually work, but having the die hard, hardcore, loyal fans of the Milwaukee Bucks giving their input would hopefully at least be read.

Time certainly needs to be put into the main statement. It would need to be well constructed, edited, grammatically correct and professional. I don't have time during this week to put that much effort into it, but if someone else got a start and posted it on the board, I would be happy to edit it and give my input.

The PetitionOnline site does not let you edit the petition charter once it has been constructed, so time needs to be taken to get it right the first time. After that, we can spread the word around the internet at other Bucks boards and do our best to get it signed.

(In response to a list of topics) These things need to be addressed, but I think it needs to be handled in a delicate way. I think calling out, by name, Kohl and his inner circle will be seen with malicious intent out of frustration and anger, rather than with a cool head and honest concern for the franchise. It's going to be a tricky issue.

I have no idea what your intentions were, I'm just sharing my thoughts as well.

I think it may be good to, as you have sort of put out there, address things from the top down. Introduction, then in the body start at the top with ownership and front office trust and leadership issues, making our way down to the players, their intentions, feuds, etc., following it up with a conclusion that expresses our genuine desire for this franchise to improve and become something that this city and state can be proud of - something that none of us have had a feeling of in a long time, and often drifting in the opposite direction.
