Can anyone believe this guy and his ranting on that blog of his?

First I saw a post on the wiretap that said Brandon Roy shouldn't be an all-star. I think this clearly shows Arenas could care less about winning and all about numbers.

Now he puts up something about Jose Calderon and how he isn't even close to being an all-star.

For the record I think Washington would have a lot better record with Calderon as their starting PG than Arenas as their starting PG (If healthy) and on a majority of teams I'd rather have the unselfish, ridiculously efficient player rather than the guy who shoots 40% and turns the ball over 3-4 times per game.

He needs to learn how to keep his mouth shut, IMO.

I actually read his blog (I don't know why) instead of just recaps on the writetap.

The guy is very full of himself. He says thing that I just can't believe. He talks about other players in the league as if it's not possible for them to read it, or as if he'll never have to play them again. Openly dissing Kwame, Darko, etc. Guys that are by no means "great" players, but could certainly destroy Arenas if they got in a fight.

Not necessarily, I just don't think Gilbert Arenas needs to be trashing him on some website.

I do believe Brandon Roy should be an all-star and I certainly think that Calderon could go on a list of the top 'snubs' for not getting in over a guy like Joe Johnson.

The way Arenas said it was that "He has 20 years to go before he is an all-star." "Who cares about assist to TO ratio?" All that garbage.

Hey Gilbert... I do care that he shoots 13% higher than you from the field and isn't the most selfish player in basketball. And a PG rarely turning over the ball is a great quality to have, someone should remind that idiot of that... Maybe he'd cut down his 4.88 TOs per game.

When Arenas went down they had only played 8 games and were 3-5. They were on a three game winning streak. "Losing badly" is not accurate.

Arenas is a idiot. I read that and was thinking the samething about when he says if you take a Allstar of the team they fall apart, then I thought well Arenas wen't down and the team got way better so hes one to talk.

Almost any PG in the NBA deserves to take a spot over Kidd though. I don't think he was snubbed but he derves to be on the allstar team 10x more then Kidd. Jeff Van Gundy talks abotu this alot and I agree with him that no player on a below .500 team should even be elgiable to be a allstar. Losers are not allstars. That goes for players like Wade and Kidd and others.

I don't agree with his points at all...

He said Roy shouldn't be an all-star and CLEARLY he should be.

He said Calderon isn't even close to being an all-star snub when Calderon has played amazing basketball and truly was a snub from the game.

Gilbert Arenas has done absolutely nothing in his career and yet he thinks he is one of the top 5-10 guys in the league.

It's like if I came out and ripped on other people at other jobs in my profession. It's just not a respectable or professional thing to do at all.

And I agree that Redd and Arenas' games are similar. They are both guys who thrive off of scoring the ball. The difference is that Redd doesn't bring the ball up court and play PG while Arenas does. Redd doesn't have the best shot selection in the world but Redd's shot selection is ten times better than Arenas'. I think Redd is a far more efficient basketball player and while Arenas is much more talented I would say they are on the same level... Except Arenas is far more selfish than Redd has ever been.

Redd also doesn't go out in the media and rip on guys from other teams or else I wouldn't be a fan of Michael Redd either, I would think he is a total fool for opening his mouth... Especially about guys like Roy who are better players like he is, just like Roy is a far superior player to Arenas.

Redd is Arenas minus the excessive self promotion. I'll give them a tie as the best two second round picks this decade (maybe ever). But neither has won anything and I don't think either of them will win anything of signifigance.

I agree with the thought that the Wiz would be better off with Calderon as the PG. Switch Jose for Areans and they have an excellent team with two great scorers and a point guard who initiates offense will not turning it over.

Calderon is a middle of the pack point guard. He's fun to watch because he makes good decisions on offense, but he doesn't do anything more to help his team win than half the point guards in the league. He definitely doesn't play defense. The Raps have 1 legitimate all-star and a solid supporting cast. If Calderon was another legit all-star, you'd think they'd have some breathing room on .500. They don't.

I agree,I think both guys are ''stat'' guys and are the classic guys with the ''we lost but I got mine'' attitude.

The only difference is Gilbert likes to talk and Redd is the ''quite christian guy''.Other than that they are cut from the same mold.

Someone should ask him if Kevin Ollie ever averaged 13/9 on 54% shooting, 46% 3-point and 92% FT (Steve Nash like percentages) while starting for a playoff team...

Because I think Kevin Ollies best season is somewhere around 5/3 as a back-up.

It's one thing to lead the league in assist to TO ratio when not getting much time or being a back-up... It's another thing to do it when you are starting and playing 32 minutes per game.

Arenas is just trying to downplay assist/TO ratio because his is always terrible.

Hollinger made a good point about Calderon in his chat today - he wondered if anyone (especially Arenas) saw that Calderon scored 13 points the other night on only 4 shots. As Hollinger pointed out, when you have a player who can score like that, it means the rest of his teammates are getting plenty of chances to score and your team's offensive potential is higher.

Calderon is pretty darn good. He was deserving of an All-Star nod this year in my opinion. I would've taken him over Johnson without a doubt although I do think the Hawks deserved to have someone on the team given the season they're having. So it was a tough call but instead of Johnson I would've gone with Josh Smith.

I don't want to see a guy from an average team be an all-star just because he's efficient.
