The trade I want to see: MIL/MEM

According to the NY Post the Grizzlies have been in talks with the Nets regarding a Mike Miller trade centered around Bostjan Nachbar and Jamaal Magloire, but they are also looking to unload Brian Cardinals deal.
It's obvious that Memphis does not really care about talent, but I'd have to think if a more talent filled deal came along they would look at it.
Here's a deal I was able to come up with, it gives them two expiring contracts, a productive young player to play alongside Rudy Gay (CV would be thrilled I think) and Bobby Simmons who can provide more production than Brian Cardinal. Ideally I'd like to get Hakim Warrick coming our way, but that may be a bit too greedy.
This deal would give us a legit starting SF and a good young defensive PG even if he is undersized. This would also give us the flexibility to deal MO in the offseason should be choose to do that.
Successful Trade Scenario
Congratulations on a successful trade.
Due to Milwaukee being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Milwaukee had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

not sure they'd want to even come this close to touching bobby simmons deal.

I like the idea people have on this board of targeting Lowry....and secondary targets of Mike Miller and Warrick.
But I agree on the salaries....the Grizz need not only a prospect type guy but also need to be a major net loser of salary in any trade. Here's where Voskuhl and Dez could come into play. Jakes got a $3mm expiring this year and Bobby only has one year at $5mm (and he can contribute somewhat to any team)
But I still don't think it is a good enough package to get Mike Miller back. Maybe the CV for Lowry would work on it's own.

The Grizzlies probably wouldn't want Simmons' contract. They're looking for max deals and first-round picks primarily. However, I do think they'd be interested in a Villanueva for Lowry/filler deal. I'll keep proposing Villanueva/2008 second for Lowry/Warrick. I think that has a good shot of being a deal the Grizzlies would be interested in.

the trade looks ok to me but i have some problems
on nights like last night with yi not playing that much that would mean a lot of time for cardinal presumably- yikes
that would also leave us with the mid priced michael redd and the high priced michael redd at the same time

Nobody wants to touch Brian Cardinals deal either but in this deal we'd be taking him off their hands and giving them someone who can play 20 minutes a night, much more productively than Brian Cardinal can.

I think we'd be just fine, well kind of.
Jake can take all the backup center minutes while Gadz takes the backup PF minutes, but yes, there would probably still have to be some Cardinal sightings.
Unfortunately I think Brian Cardinal is the kind of guy LK would fall in love with and give him 25 minutes a night.

I want Warrick, i think he is an inexpensive playey that this team really needs right now, i also wouldnt mind lowry but if were giving up CV then i want to get someone long and athletic back and thats Warrick. Warrick would instantly become my fav player on the team if we had him.

No way do the grizzlies take on simmons contract. However, we can make this a three way deal with miami to make something happen. Maybe shipping mo to miami, along with cardinal going there, and the bucks winding up with miller and lowry, while the grizz get miami's expiring deals.

Thats exactly what you would've said to Lakers fans looking to trade Kwame Brown and Javaris Crittendon for Pau Gasol.
But it happened.

So you really don't think that Memphis would listen to us when they are looking to do this deal with the Nets?
Memphis May Make Another Deal With Nets
February 14, 2008 - 5:16 pm
New York Post -
The New Jersey Nets may make another deal with the Memphis Grizzles before next week's trade deadline, according to the New York Post.
The team is reportedly talking with the Grizzles about a deal for guard Mike Miller. New Jersey is willing to send a package to Memphis that includes Jamaal Magloire and Bostjan Nachbar.

That's irrelevant. You honestly think Villanueva with Cardinal makes up the difference between Miller and Lowry and Simmons? I don't see it. Don't get me wrong, I'm all over this. I just don't see it happening.

I'd have no problem cutting Lowry, Simmons and Cardinal out of the deal. But they seem intent on getting rid of Cardinal, but no one will give them an expiring for him. No one.
I'd give them this crap pile of expirings with CV who they could play next to Gay.

The only reason theyre "dumping" talent is to save money. This deal gives them 2 expirings worth a whoping 1.5 mill!

Jake Voshkuhl is on a one year contract and he's earning $3M alone so it would probably be more along the lines of $4.5M although I'm sure GAD could give us the exact number. Jake does have a trade kicker too so it might even be more.
This deal also gives them a player, a starter at the PF since Warrick is not the answer for them. A core of Conley, Gay and Villanueva is pretty solid IMO. CV would be a pretty decent fit next to Darko and he would be jacked to play with Rudy Gay as well.
Maybe they don't take our deal, but I'd like to think we're at least throwing our chips on the table to make something happen. But this is the Bucks so in reality I'd probably guess no.

But they wont take Simmons. They got rid of PAU FREAKIN GASOL for an expiring and theyre going to take on Simmons? No.

There is an amended deal in the post right above the one where I responded with the $4.5M number that does not include Simmons.

There is no way we are getting Miller for that let alone lowry as well. A first is going to have to be involved.
That said I would love to get Miller on this team for cheap. Adding another another player on Redd's caliber would be a good step forward.
CV
Jake
Ivey
Bobby
For Miller Cardnal
I still don't see them doing that.
