If the team was good, this would work.

It would be like that episode of South Park where nobody wanted to go to the amusement park, Cartman bought it and band everyone from going then had to let a certain amount in every day. The Supply and Demand would be up due to the media coverage of the different style of ticket sales, again that could only work IF you had a good team.

How exactly does this work? If we click on google ads, he gets money? Somebody explain, because this sounds interesting.

If you click on a google link and then buy a product he gets a commission.

While the idea of a buy the Bucks website is cute, the only purpose this serves is giving cash to this guy. Anything to make a "buck" so to speak.

it'll be a short experiment. Asking people to click on your ads violates Google's terms of service, so he'll have his ads pulled when they catch wind of it.

it's something like 1c for every hundred clicks (or something ridiculous). i'd be surprised if he even managed to raised enough money to buy the team's towels.

he might be better off asking for donations and pledges to buy the bucks.

A Milwaukee Bucks fan has started a new Web site to try to raise capital to buy the Bucks from team owner Herb Kohl. That would be a long shot, but fans have become increasingly unhappy with the team's performance this season.

MD, are you getting paid anything to be a mod? I remember way back when, when I had taken over for GTG, he said something about a salary coming at some point. I was just wondering if that ever happened.


Also, how much are the guys who built this site reeling in. In general terms of course. Thousands? Hundreds of thousands? Millions? Any idea? It doesn't even have to be this site specifically, but a site equally busy. I have some friends trying to start up web sites with ad based income, how big does it need to get before it is worthwhile?

I don't get paid. But it's a good idea! I would image this site makes some decent money, it has a huge amount of traffic which is what you need when your revenue is ad generated. There are different ways to generate revenue with a site like this. Paid advertising, companies pay to have their ads on your site. The more traffic you have the more you can charge. Or a google adwords type program. If visitors to the site click on a banner and then buy something, the site gets a percentage. And there are also affiliate programs that work the same way as google. You sign up (Commission Junction is the largest affiliate program), put banners of companies on your site, and earn a commission if people click and buy.

I am pretty sure that specifically telling people to click the Google ads like this has done is against the Google terms of service when you sign up for the ads and they can refuse to pay you anything.
