Add him to the list of multi-millionaire athletes that have gone broke.

He is one guy I never would have imagined going down the path he went after leaving the Bucks.
Unbelievable.

He started down that path while he was still here. It was one of the reasons he was traded. Props to Weinhauer for not waiting too long to move him.

i know the alcohol cost him future contracts and some money in the knicks deal but it's not like heroin, he didn't spend the money he did make on it.
so where did it all go?

Hey playing for the early 90's Bucks would make anyone become an alcoholic. This makes us due for one more. All hell will break loose when that guy is Michael Redd.

the league should work with the players union to establish accounts for these guys so that a portion of their yearly salary goes in that they can't touch to prevent situations like this happening. The chance of that occurring, where the league mandates what grown men do with their money, is quite slim.
How has Sean Kemp stayed afloat all these years? He's got how much in child support to pay?

thinking about this more, it makes me wonder if this is maybe similar to what some people were saying about sprewell's situation.
the restaurant closing and being in debt isn't the same as him being in debt.

Kind of like they do with social security which is going broke.

No it wouldn't be a pool that everyone in the NBA collects from. It'd be like individual accounts, for instance Vin Baker would have his own account that only his money would go into that he couldn't touch until he retired or til 5 years after he retired. That way, these guys couldn't blow it all. I'm sure many NBA players see the importance and actual value of money once they've retired and no longer wake up 5 million dollar pay days every year. It'd be an attempt to prevent 20/20 hindsight and instead have a safety net for guys who blew their money when they were playing

What a sad story. They don't realize the money is finite.
