Purdue by 3 at the half, Grant just hit a halfcourt shot at the buzzer, game was tied. Minny playing well though. If Minny wins this, Badgers will win the conference IMO.

I'll agree with you there. The biggest player in the B10 champ is MSU with a game here in Madison tomorrow night and then a home one with IU after that. While MSU is out of the conference race, if they win these two games they may end up with the highest seed out of the big ten in the NCAA tourney barring a crazy B10 tournament so there is something to be had for them as well.

Who was sitting around one day and decided...."Boiler up, that sounds cool!"

I wouldn't go making any proclamations with MSU coming to town tomorrow. I know Bo owns Izzo historically, but he loves to rain on our parade with how much we've rained on his in the past.

We control our own fate.

Wow Minnesota is really bad on offense.

And MIG, I agree, but I do think we beat MSU at home tomorrow. It's looking more and more like an outright title isn't going to happen though.

I sure hope so. Like usual, I'll be in attendance and I love beating MSU. Even more than Illinois :)

I wouldn't make a solid prediction about the Badgers even if Northwestern was coming to town.

I can never make any proclamations about Badger basketball OR football. We just love that grind-it-out style of play and even at home where we are very tough to beat I can never call a victory beforehand unless it's some crappy non-conference opponent. I'm not trashing our style in any way because I think it is the best system for the team(in basketball, at least) but I am never as surprised as those fans "in shock" that Minnesota or Michigan is hanging with us at home.

Now, we are consistent and that is our advantage. Probably 7 or 8 games out of 10 for us usually are way closer than they should be but we will pull out 9 of the 10 usually as opposed to an athletic ACC team or something that blows out their opponent 8 of 10 games but is vulnerable for possibly 2 upsets.

A little bit of an off-topic rant but I will never assume a win even though we are at home and seem to be hotter than MSU.

Where do you guys sit in the student section?

I don't. Last year I had student tickets, but every other year since the Kohl Center has opened I've sat with my dad. We're up in the third, but it's center court. Can see everything great. I actually much prefer the seats where we are rather than being on the floor behind the basket. Just miss the "energy" (if you can call it that - this year it sucks) of the student section.

You're right, I'm in the first level, albeit fairly high up and along the tunnel where the visitors enter but other than the Purdue game the energy has sucked. Maybe they could finally learn their lesson and change the system so that Sorority Jane doesn't win the lottery and show up to 1/4 of the games and true fans like you and myself are down under the basket.

I really don't understand why some sports announcers call the grateful red a good student section. Personally, I think it is average most years. We have one of the worst locations to have a student section in college basketball(because of all the older donors contributing to the Kohl Center) and half of the students down in the first level don't even really know what's going on.

Well I'd say in the past the hardcores that camped out for 3 days (or spend a **** of money to buy the tickets from those who did) sat in the first 3/4 of the bottom level. They tended to at least have decent energy, and for the games like Ohio State, Pittsburgh, etc. the place was really rocking. It still doesn't compare to anything like Duke, but it was fun IMO. The main factor I'd say is the prestigiousness of the home-court advantage. They talk about our great B10 record (and overall) at home under Bo, they hear the students making noise, and they give them props. It's probably been conditioned into their minds.

We are 51-3 at home in conference play under Ryan.

Yeah, I was going to add the fact that our record at home is pretty insane and that is probably why we get the rep we do.

True, the hardcores did get to camp out in previous years but I still think this "lottery" keeps a lot of fans(like myself) out of the mix.

Yes, you didn't get the gist of what I meant. We leave the other team in the game almost every single time. We always end up pulling it out but it was the same theory as last year in the tournament. Personally, if it wasn't for the refs I think Minnesota should have beaten us last week. If we get upset in any game, I will say well, we are always on the brink of it. If Duke loses at Cameron to Miami, you go :o .

Last year we were 28-2 or whatever in the regular season but you just knew it would be tough to make a tournament run. We would always leave the other team in the game and we were horrible at stepping out on 3 point shooters. You just knew that if someone got hot(that d-bag Krueger) that we would get upset early.

Outside the top four in the Big Ten, it is just brutal.
