Most likely he will be out for the year. We are 5 games out of the 6 spot occupied by the Wizards.

This just increases our chances at a playoff birth, and if we can get really hot, a 6th seed to play against the Magic.

I agree.
I see the Wizards falling out of the playoffs now. They were able to overcome the loss of Arenas because they still had Butler and Jamison, but without Arenas as well? That's too much.

I would say that it doesn't matter that we are currently 5 games back behind the Wizards like you say. What matters is how many games back we are from the current 7th seed (and 8th seed, and 9th seed). How many games back are we from those teams? I expect the Wizards to drop out.

Detroit, Boston, Orlando, Toronto are locks, with Cleveland also getting one of those top 5 seeds I imagine at this point. We could absolutely end up with that 6th seed.
Wow.

Do I smell a possible ECF run? EVERYTHING is falling into place. :)

It is very bad to see a guy like Butler out for all this time, but this gives us one more chance at the playoffs, and a 6th seed with a little bit of luck and of momentum can happen. I can't believe we have a chance to be East 6th seed, just a few days ago I would have laughed out loud... But we have got to prove the good play we showed in the last 4-5 games is not a fluke, that something is really changed, that finally our players have started to be a team.

This is devastating news. I just traded for Butler right before he was injured in my fantasy league. Blatche better step up.

First round against Orlando would be my dream. That would be perfect

We would actually have a shot at beating them....

I can't believe I actually believe this team has a shot at a playoff series win...what the hell am I talking about?

We just couldn't put Gadzuric in or SVG would pull his "Hack-a-Gadz" routine out again

There's a good chance that Cleveland will end up being the three seed, though.

No, because the 3rd seed needs to be a division champ.

Right now Larry Harris is giggling like a mad fool, and that's not just 'cause he read it as "Butler has a labia injury"!

None of this is relevant until we win more than 3 out of our last 8 games guys. Show me a 8 out of 10 win stretch then maybe I can get a little excited.

We've played good ball three out of our last four games. We played horrible ball for the most part for the 55 games before that.

I will take playoffs over no playoffs, but I'm not even thinking about that until we go on a somewhat significant stretch of wins.

You know what, that's a good point, this is ridiculous. I wasn't on for tanking at all, but why not save LH's job with a playoff berth? I guess if they really want to can him and bring in the next inbred in line they'll do it anyway. And I'm turned off about the back-stabbing stuff about LH's working personality. But this stupid cycle was seeming so predictable a couple weeks ago and it's been generally a lot more fun to watch the team since then.

Agreed.

This team needs to play well for a much longer period of time. Heck 3 out of 4 and the loss was a beat down.

I sure hope we do get to the playoffs and perhaps if we get close Caron going down may become a factor. Until then, I guess I am just bummed that he got hurt. Great player.

The East sucks. But I would hate to see the Bucks make it to the playoffs and the be content this summer with the team they have. Atlanta and Charlotte had good finishes last year and had hope after such a crappy start. But they still suck.

No, the top 4 seeds now consist of the 3 division winners plus the next best record, but they are seeded 1-4 in order of record. A non-division winner can therefore end up with the #2 or #3 seed, unlike the old playoff system under the three division conference system.
