OT:NBA2K8 Has Been Updated...A Few Errors? You decide.

Post#1 » by NotYoAvgNBAFan » Fri Feb 29, 2008 4:36 pm

I came home to play NBA2K8 the greatest NBA simulation game on the planet mind you...and I notice that the trades made two weeks ago are now on the teams that acquired them

Kidd is in Dallas
Harris In New Jersey
Gasol was on Lakers
Shaq in Pheonix

As per normal you got a lot of bandwagoners who are all of a sudden online playing the Suns and Mavs all day long...

Today I took the Lakers and I notice that they ratings and gameplay had slightly changed for them! How they hell can the Lakers be a 72 rating?

The Pistons as well went down on defense once Mohammed left. I forget to see if they have the Cavs and Bulls update yet.

But let me know how these updates today have altered or changed the gameplay for any of you fans...It has for me. It seems different...

No way the Lakers should be rated 72 though. No way in hell! That is absurd. I took one dribble with Gasol and he fumbled the ball out of bounds immediately...

They have really limited him. The Suns are better on this game then they are playing now in real life now that they have Shaq.

But I like to play with the Pistons, Wizards, and Lakers and I can light you up with these teams but they seem off to me...

Devin Harris' jumper is atrocious in this game, but I would get that down and be ok with that team as well!

Take a look at it...I wonder now if they will finally have the latest updates for many backwards compatible games just released the last few months.

Namely EA Sports MVP Baseball 2004 & 2005! That is the greatest game known to man or as Bill Walton would say, 'in the history of western civilzation!' LOL...

I hope so...we'll see. Good day. :D

A re-birth of MVP Baseball would be one of the only beneficial aspects of an EA/Take Two takeover.

If I download the update, can I play online with the new teams?

Otherwise I won't do it, because my rosters are manually up to date, and I don't want to erase them unless I can play online.

That's what the roster update is for. When you go online for a ranked match and it says "updating roster" or whatever, it has no effect on your offline play. It is strictly for online play. However, you can download the rosters for offline play if you wish (which you don't seem to want).

To the original poster, I think you need to recheck your game. The Lakers may be a 72 if you go to "quickplay" because like I said, the "updated" rosters don't apply to offline unless you specifically go and download them yourself.

This may important to note too, but the overall "rating" of a team literally means nothing. More so in 2k games than EA, ratings don't mean anything and I question how they're really calculated. In my Association, many teams are ranked 100 overall because they've got really good teams. For instance, a team with Shaq, KG, Richardson, Jefferson, and Hinrich is rated a 100 overall.

When you play an All-star game (in the franchise) however, the teams are rated like 98 and 96. That's not possible. I don't get how a team of players all rated 99 or 98 overall can't be rated higher as a team than the Shaq team that I mentioned.
