After the game I was talking to BuckFan25226 for a few minutes by his courtside club seat and all of a sudden Larry Harris starts walking down that aisle towards the court.

Then I noticed who was following him. His father.

Does anyone have any info as to why Del Harris was in town?
Just visiting his son? Or for some other purpose?

I'm hoping this will turn into something interesting, but I understand it might not.

I will start checking into this, but figured I'd widen the net a bit and post about it here too.

Trying to talk Kohl into keeping Harris as GM?

Not sure you care to narrow the speculation, but I wondered if you had in conjecture Del helping Larry relocate to another NBA position? Or Del joining/replacing his son with the Bucks?

I had hoped that Del and the Bucks would never be united again.

A few weeks ago I had heard a whisper about Kohl firing Larry and then replacing him with Del, but it wasn't very substantive so I just immediately dismissed it. Plus, would Del really agree to replace his own son? I figured the answer to that would be "no" as well.

Old folks are cautioned to not close their mind to new things. I wonder if we're also cautioned to keep an open mind on the return of old, failed things?

The details have thankfully blurred with the passing of healing time, but I recall Del's tenure here as The Avoidance of Excellence. IMO he ran the team like a bureaucrat trying to avoid being really bad and quite willing to be mediocre if it was inexpensive.

Not sure why Herb would want to hold on to son Larry at this point, but I could imagine Del being added as some kind of Special Executive Assistant to the GM. That would give Herb another voice to Just Say No to Larry's trades. To balance the impetuosity of "youth."

No decent father would ever take the job of his recently fired son so I highly doubt that. My sources tell me Del was in town to visit his soon to be fired son (I am sure LH is more than a little stressed out by this whether he shows it in public or not) and grand kids and to maybe talk to Yi to see how he is doing since he has obviously hit the wall. Del is also decent friends with LK so I am sure he talked to him a little. Larry brought him to the game as a guest is the only whispers I have heard about his attendance.

Oh yeah and my sources are my gut instinct BTW. Del has so many ties to the team, his attendance doesn't really have to mean anything special does it?

can a son and father spend quality time together without everyone speculating things....sometimes you guys act as if the nba is a fantasy world they have feelings too, they have families Del and Larry dont get to spend time together that much...this is pointless.

Agreed, but it has not to be a "Del or Larry" deal, maybe Kohl is thinking about having Del AND Larry in the organisation (Del as head coach or as an assistant?)
But I think he was only visiting his son, or maybe he was here to talk about his son's contract with Kohl.

Nope. I admitted as much in the original post. I just thought I'd check IN CASE there was any more to it.

It asks "Was there a reason Del Harris was at this game?"
In the original post I even ask "Just visiting his son?"

And as for your question "How did the MJS get out scooped?" that was clearly made in a mocking fashion of this thread, you actually are illustrating part of the mindset of WHY the MJS gets scooped by The Racine Journal Times (Gery Woelfel), Chad Ford, any number of people on this board, and basically ANYONE who tries.
The MJS gets scooped because of a lack of curiosity, a lack of caring, a lack of effort, etc.

The MJS will look at a small little thing like Del harris being in town and completely dismiss it without even bothering to ask around about it. They do that with most "little" things that are Bucks related. Myself (and others) are not so dismissive of seemingly little things. Many times those things remain little. But because I inquire about most of them, I managed to stumble upon things that aren't actually as little as they appear.

My guess would be this is NOT one of those times, but I'm still going to check into it, just in case there is more to it. That IS a difference between myself and the MJS. And that IS a reason why the MJS does get scooped over and over again by myself and many others on this forum and elsewhere. The MJS waits until info COMES to them. The rest of us actually make an effort to go out and GET information.

Little Larry must be in big trouble if Principal Kohl called Mr. Harris in to talk about Larry's behavior.

It's senior year, though, Larry's got one foot out the door already--maybe just harmless senior pranks.

I'll never forget my dad coming into the principal's office and asking "What did this idiot do now?"...

Perhaps Larry disassembled one of Kohl's cars and then reassembled it in Kohl's luxury suite at the Bradley Center

Props to GAD for starting the thread. I always question the reasons different people appear at the games.

I'm also amazed at some of you blaming Del. You are all playing right into Kohl's hands by still channeling negative energy into Uncle Del twenty years later, rather than channeling that energy into Herb.

I can't wait until 2028 when Kohl still owns the team, we've not made the playoffs in 20 years and some of you will be on here blaming Larry Harris for all the problems of the Bucks during the Larry era.

Kohl runs the team. Kohl told Del what moves he was allowed to make along with player moves he ordered Del to make. Until that situation changes, our fate will always be tied to Kohl's GM abilities. Don't let Kohl off the hook with public scapegoats as he likes to have.

That would seem to be the logical response. Pretty difficult to imagine Del wanting to take his son's job.

I can't think of anything more frightening than the thought of giving Del Harris a second chance to absolutely destroy this team as its GM. Maybe trading for Zach Randolph comes close.

Worthwhile for you to say that, but I don't view quite that way.

We all know that our Senatorial Savior is a multiple-personality individual. Don Nelson and George Karl are manifestations of Dr. Jekyll parts of the multiple personality. Del Harris manifests a Mr. Hyde part.

By criticizing Del we're encouraging the Jekyll part to once again become dominant and name a good GM.
