Why Isn't Sessions Getting Playing Time?

Disclaimor: Ramon Sessions is not going to save this miserable season. Let us all agree on that.

However, why isn't he being activated? It's not like Royal Ivey is some great player who should be getting playing time. He's an OK player but that's it. So why not play Sessions instead and find out what he's made of? What is the point of sitting him on the end of the bench? If that's the plan, he should be back in the D League working on his game and improving his game. We know what Ivey is at this point in the season. We have no idea what Sessions can do and this would be an ideal time to find out. Maybe he turns out to be worthless. Maybe he turns out to have some real ability. It sure would be nice to find out one way or the other. Instead, he sits on the end of the bench and wastes away.

Typical ignorant Bucks' management.

Still in a playoff race.

It's more important for us to develop Ivey.

It's probably some stupid reason like LK not knowing he's on the team or something.

This is funny because it could be true.

He has a foot fungus and refuses to wear flip-flops in the locker room.

I completely agree.

I really don't think we need all three of Gadz, Voskuhl, and Ruffin on the active list while the whole team is healthy. Noel and Storey obviously right now are locks for the inactive list, but in order to put Sessions on the active list, we would need to put one of those three or Ivey on the inactive list.

I doubt we put Gadz, Simmons, or Bell on the inactive list considering the circumstances and their contracts, so I'm going to say it would have to be a choice between Voskuhl, Ruffin, or Ivey. I would personally pick Ruffin. I like having three ACTUAL centers (Ruffin is too short for me to consider him an actual center, even if we play him there) on the active roster if possible.

At least Sessions playing would give me a reason to watch some of the remaining games.

The Bucks for me are kinda like how i viewed the Brewers before they started developing all their young talent. The Brewers would suck, but i'd still watch for awhile because it was a new season. Then somewhere around the mid-point in the season i'd find myself watching less and less Brewers games.

If though the Brewers would bring a kid up from the minors, it gave me a reason to be temporarily excited and i'd watch for awhile because the rest of the team had grown very stale to me.

That's where i am with the Bucks. I have little interest anymore in watching Mo/Redd do their shoot ignore defense routine, watch Dez throw up shotput hooks, watch Bogut show the consistency of a YoYo, or watch our scrubalicious bench get whipped by other bench scrubs.

I don't even get mad by the Bucks games anymore, i just yawn. Watching them play is about as exciting as plain rice for dinner every night. Come on Herb, throw me a bone and demand LK has to play Sessions.

This doesn't address the "Why?" but there might not be any reason to expect anything different soon. From the game report notes:

HELPING HAND: Guard Ramon Sessions, who suffered a left-hand fracture on Feb. 1, is healthy enough to play again but for the time being will remain inactive for games and will be used as a practice player.

Tom Enlund

Just not good enough at this time? Some other reason? Did everything he could do in the D-League and they want to reward him with big league per diem? Careful, some bad habits might rub off on him too. Or maybe Ramon needs to look into Bartlestein representation.

Yi's sore ankle may keep Coach K from "inactivating" any of the other bigs. Plus, they need a good selection of bigs to play garbage time when we're being blown out.

Playing Ivey seems to give Coach K the illusion that, in part, we're playing "the right way." Coach may need that illusion to keep hope alive. If Ivey didn't play the right way, he'd have no way at all. As it is, on defense, he draws attention 'cuz he's moving, but doesn't really make much of a difference. As a PG today, he had zero assists.

The coaching staff must have Sessions ranked as the #5 guard. Must think he won't play. But I agree with others here... Why not?

I know he is playing in practice.. i'm sure it's a matter of time before we see him on the court.

I edited the title of my thread and figured this was an appropriate time to bump this up. I'm just baffled that Sessions isn't seeing playing time with Mo out. Ivey isn't that good; Bell hasn't shown much all season long as a PG so why not play Sessions? What's the worst that can happen? The team could lose?

Gee, there's something that hasn't been happening much this season.

Just throw the kid out there and see what he could do. I realize it makes far too much sense to actually start him so I'm not even asking for that. But give him 10-15 minutes a game as a backup and see what he can do? It's not like your other options are playing so well or the team is playing so well that playing Sessions would constitute taking a major risk.

I can't believe how poor of a job Larry K. has done.....at first I wasn't buying into what Buckskin said about the players thinking he is absolutely clueless.....but the more you see the less you like.

Yeah this isn't exactly rocket science. If you're not going to play him in games here then at least send him down to the D-League for some playing time. Sitting him on the bench isn't going to help him.

Considering Ivey is expiring and will not be back, it's pretty baffling that Sessions is not getting any time in a season that is beyond lost.

But this is the Bucks we're talking about.

I can only assume that LK is too afraid to gamble with a young guy like Ramon, which speaks to the pressure he feels to win some games in what has been a very disappointing season. Ivey is clearly LK's type of guy...he works hard and doesn't complain. I imagine he feels a degree of loyalty to him.

LK sees him in practice, so he knows what Ramon is capable of better than we are, but we ALL see Ivey in games and he's...just a guy. At best. I agree with everything Europa said...at this point there's no real harm that could come from playing him.

I know Bogut got blasted for saying how he'd like to se Sessions play but I can say that MANY of the players on this team feel he is the best pure PG on the roster right now and would not mind playing with him.....I know some people in the front office would like to see him get some time as well, but as I said earlier you have a coach who still thinks he can make a playoff run and save his job............oh how the Utah college job must be looking to him now  .

Larry K has no reason to care which players get developed for next year. He will be fired after this year, and will bring with him his career coaching record. He's making choices based on what he thinks will give him the best shot to win games today. There is no tomorrow.
