I'm at my brother's place right now and his Time Warner DVR has updated its software.
Mine has yet to do this.
I like some of the new features in the update, but for some absurd reason, three of the features I find extremely useful are no longer present in the update! And those are just missing features I've discovered so far.
Does anyone know of a way to PREVENT it from doing the update? I really, REALLY do not want to lose these features.
1) When fast forwarding and rewinding, it no longer displays the time, which I find useful especially when watching sports recordings and looking for things in game logs. But I also like to see how much of a program exactly I have watched and have left. WTF?
2) When fast forwarding and rewinding, you can no longer use the left and right arrow to move to the next 15 minute interval marker. WTF?
3) When looking at the guide, there is no longer a search button that allows you to immediately find other programs with the exact same title. I used this ALL THE TIME when looking to set up recordings, either to check to see if something was re-airing, to see other sports events like that (I use this everyday to set up my NBA recordings), etc.
WTF?
Now, that last one I can get around kind of, though it is very inconvenient. There is still a search function, but you have to manually enter in the program you are searching for. How annoying. I could do that before, but I could also just do what I described above, which was much faster.
I suppose I can get around #2 as well, it is just another inconvenience that will take more time and be annoying. I am not at all happy with either of those changes, but at least I could deal with them (although, why should I have to?)
But change #1 is inexcusable to me. I am really upset by this.
What can I do? Does anyone have any suggestions?
Switching to UVerse or satellite is not a current practical option.

I haven't had mine update yet... what are some of the good things about it. From what you said it seems like a lot of bad, but I can live with all of these items.
For search, there were two ways to do it (previously). Go to the guide, press the B button. You can also go to your List (the recorded programs) and hit the B button, which should take you into a search. Have you tried the B button while in the Guide? Maybe it still works.
