Bucks-Rockets Trade Idea

I dont do this very often, if ever, but this trade kind of makes sense for both teams.

The Rockets trade Yao Ming to the Bucks.

The Bucks trade Michael Redd and Yi to the Rockets. Maybe the Bucks also have to throw in a top ten protected first round pick.

The Bucks would keep their economic ties to China but would also add a legit 20-10 guy. The front court for the Bucks would be pretty good, with Bogut and Villanueva sharing minutes at the 4/5. One of the main problems Yao has is staying out of foul trouble and playing defense in the closing minutes. Bogut would help with those problems. The main problem might be whether or not Bogut and Yao could play together. If Bogut develops a 15 foot jumper, than this could definitely work.

The Bucks would also have a dominant big man to throw the ball down low to for consistent offense. Bogut would have to worry about double teams less as well. It also would allow Mo to be more of a shooting guard if we start Bell or Ivey or draft a pass first point guard.

The Rockets have looked pretty good without Yao and Yao is a constant injury risk. This might also be the only Yao trade the Rockets can do given the huge Chinese market. Yi would give them another up and comming big man. Redd would give TMac another shooter, easing the amount of work TMac has to do. Plus this would be a great situation for Redd as he would not have to carry a team.

Do the Rockets do this trade? Should the Bucks do it? What are your thoughts?

I can't see Houston doing it, but if they did Yao would totally instantly become our tallest player.

He would become every teams tallest player, except UNC-Asheville.

There's no way Houston would do this. If they wouldn't give up Aaron Brooks for Ron Artest, they aren't giving up Yao Ming for Michael Redd.

There's 0 percent chance the Rockets consider it.

My bad ... I guess in the future I should waste threads on why we should trade Redd for Nene or why Marvin Williams is the "truth". Or about how terrible ... err great ... my fantasy team is. Also, it took you 5 edits to say that? Really? You didnt even make an argument but you used 5 edits? Come on now, I know you can do better than that.

I personally think that Yao is a little overrated. The Rockets are often forced to take him out in the last minute of close games because he is slow defensively. He couldnt guard Boozer or Okur in the playoffs last year. He is also constantly injury prone, and hasnt played in a full year since his second season in the league and he hasnt played more than 60 games the last three years. He also averages a lot of turnovers for a big man. He is close to 3.5 and had a ton of turnovers against the Jazz.

It is also the case that the Rockets might need to trade either him or TMac, and its going to be hard to get equal value for Tmac and they cant trade Yao because of the financial risks involved. They have shown that they still play at a high level without Yao and have won big games still. One of the only players in the league they could trade Yao for would be Yi.

Is there a way to make this trade work? These two seem like good trading partners and Redd would be a good compliment to TMac.

Yi has to be part of any trade offer. Yi, Bogut, and Redd seems like too much. Is Yi, Redd, and our first round pick unprotected next year enough? I doubt the Rockets would part with Laundry or Brooks. Maybe Yi, Redd and Bogut for Yao and Chuck Hayes.

So the Bucks trade their sg and pf for a center. Great, the bucks now have 2 centers and the rest of the team is NBADL material.
The Rockets trade their all-star C for another shooting guard and project pf. By the time Yi develops (if at all), McGrady's playing baseball and Redds old. Oh and Landry is the future pf for the Rockets.

Mr. bucks59, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

The team already is NBADL material.... The Bucks would finally be paying someone max money that might actually deserve the contract. They would get a 20-10 guy. It might not make them an NBA title contender, but it makes them a contender in the East. It would also help out the back court situation as Mo could just play more of a 2 role along side a pass first point guard - either Ivey or Bell.

The Bucks would still have their draft pick this year and Villanueva, who they could either keep or trade. Plus, Mo, for better or for worse.

However, you are kind of right - Bogut and Yao might not be able to play together.

The Rockets trade their all-star C for another shooting guard and project pf. By the time Yi develops (if at all), McGrady's playing baseball and Redds old. Oh and Landry is the future pf for the Rockets.

If the Rockets were to trade Yao, it could only be to the Bucks. They cant risk losing the financial ties to China.

It makes some sense from the Rockets stand point. Yao has missed more than 20 games the last 3 seasons and will miss the playoffs this season. They have no won a playoff series since Yao has been a Rocket. Without Yao, they are still playing at an elite level in a tough Western Conference. There were a lot of articles written at the begining of this year that indicated that Yao and TMac might not be a good fit for each other. He is still young and he is still a force. But if the Rockets believe that he a) can't play a full season and b) is a liability late in the game defensively, then it kind of makes sense for them. Yao will always have injury problems because of his great size.

If Redd played next to Tmac, it would help both of them out a lot. It would give the Rockets another good shooter and would alleviate some of the offensive pressure that TMac has to deal with.

You are right in the sense that they would be adding a project 4 in Yi, but they are already playing Laundry a lot of minutes there.

An alternative trade could be to add in Bogut and Chuck Hayes. That might make things more fair and make more sense in terms of the roster for both teams.

This trade just really doesn't make sense for either team.
Do the Rockets play Redd, McGrady, and Battier at the same time?
Why would the Rockets pay max money to two players that play the same position?
If Yao is injury prone why would the Buck want him when they have a 23 year older improving center in Bogut?
Do the Bucks then not resign Bogut down the road?
Sorry I just don't see logic for either team.

The Bucks need to trade either Mo or Redd this offseason. We need young, smart, athletic, unselfish, defesive-minded talent at the pg and sf position before we ever consider contending again. More Defense. More Defense.
Oh and a new coach, gm, and owner.
This mess just needs some big changes.
More Defense.

errr,
have to revise the trade a little bit before they consider
ok
here is the deal
rocket gives bucks yao
and bucks give rocket redd, bogut, yi, 08, 09, 10 first round pick
there, they might have 3% chance to look at it and 0.3% chance to consider it

just think about what you would give out to trade lebron, i am not saing yao is as good as lebron, but value wise, yes

More absurd than that other thread about us trading t-mac for redd.

The only chance of Yao being traded is a trade equivalent to the KG trade, and bucks don't have the players or the goodies.

But then again, Houston will never trade Yao. The only chance i'd trade Yao is for Kobe, KG or Lebron. But that will never happen.

No way in the world Houston does this trade and I cannot see us making a move for Yao and not trying to pair him and Yi.
