Offseason targets

I didn't want to open this thread so early in the season, but we are in tanking mode, so as a Bucks fan I'm in offseason. We don't have cap space to sign big free agents (even if I hope for something like a sign-and-trade to take Josh Smith). We all know what we need, it would be interesting to hear the names of the players you look forward to get and to improve our team. There was already a thread on how to use out MLE; it would be interesting to discuss about every kind of player you would like to get, from big players to minimum contracts. As I already said, I like Josh Smith (restricted FA) between the great names, and guys like Childress, Jarvis Hayes, Kelenna Azubuike, Kirk Snyder, Louis Williams, Beno Udrih between the other free agents. I think about a lot of guys to trade for, but it would be too long to write everything.

What are your names? Who would you try to bring in Milwaukee?

Dan from New Berlin as the GM.

I would like as I already wrote to get Carl Landry that is huge, but Houston would want to keep him and I finally believe he is not going to go away from Texas. That would mean that Chuck Hayes will be acquirable, and despite he is undersized, he plays with intensity and he is very smart on the defensive side of the ball.

I would love Chuck Hayes.

If we don't draft a point guard I'd like to go after Beno Udrih. Some swing men who might could help are Bostjan Nachbar, Antoine Wright, Quinton Ross and Roger Mason (more of a 2)

I love Udrih too, but I believe the Kings will enough cap space to sign him without ruining their plans. Nachbar is very good, I would like him coming off our bench. Jarvis Hayes is also worth a look.

I'd love to get Eduardo Najera. He's a tough minded player who does all the little things as well as huge thing we need like playing great defense. His versatility would also be great, as we need help at both SF and PF.

I also think we might be able to get him, despite how highly George Karl thinks of him. Karl very likely will be out, and that team has a ton of money invested in their front court already between Melo, Martin, Camby, Nene, and Steven Hunter. Plus, they have Linas Kleiza who is basically a young and cheap Najera.

We'd have to use a lot of our MLE to get him, but it'd be a great signing. Pity our franchise is so screwed up that it'd take us overpaying him to get a winner like him to come over to Milwaukee.

Why do I get the feeling they will go after Pietrus?

Childress would be a great option, he's a smart player who can defend 2's and 3's.

I personally would gladly include Yi as part of any sign and trade that brings a top-flight forward to Milwaukee, especially if it involved Okafor who didn't get his extension from Charlotte last summer and may want to bolt.

Okafor could be very interesting...Najera too, our MLE or a sign-and-trade sending Gadz or something in Denver would be interesting moves. I like Childress very much, and there is Matt Barnes that is a very good defender in the FA list, too.

Najera would be great, forgot about him.

How about also looking at someone who's just been dropped who could be a future sf for this team. Gerald Green has just been dropped by houston. We could pick him up cheaply, try him out for a season and then by the time Bobby's contract come's up, if he's matured by then Green could be the future at SF.

That's of course if he's not the complete and utter headcase i've heard he is.

I know he's said he doesn't want to play in the NBA, but Dimitris Diamantidis would be a great fit here too. He's an unbelievable defender.

Gerald Green is not a good player. He can not play on this level. Why do you think Minnesota of all teams traded him?

Never mind that about Diamantides, he is signed through 2010 making almost 2 Euros a year.

He didn't go to college.
He has amazing skills, but he has not the team discipline and the work ethic you gain playing in college. Unless you are a Garnett, a Kobe or a LeBron, I believe every player should play at least 1 year in college.

This team needs players who will try hard no matter what and do the little things. Players like Gerald Green are the antithesis of that.

I hope we don't take a risk on a potential filled player with a prima donna attitude who doesn't feel a necessity to make his bones by playing defense. That's the last thing we need, both in free agency and in the draft.
