non-basketball related thoughts from the Sixers game

A pretty quiet Sunday crowd filled with a lot of younger kids. Crowd was announced at 16,000 +, I'd guess there were maybe 8 or 9,000.

* fill-in PA announcer...not terrible, but he kinda goes with that cheezy infomercial voice and sometimes it sounded as if he was just rambling and you really couldn't understand him.

* Kohl was there in his second of two sport coats that he wears to games. He sat with this arms folded pretty much the entire game, except for eating a hot dog (insert joke here).

* It was Bango's birthday and they had a couple mascots from some teams around the NBA. The halftime show was the mascots doing some obstacle course on one of those big inflatable things. It was pretty stupid because you couldn't really see anything and it only lasted like 3 minutes.

* Gadzuric went to the locker room for about 10-15 minutes and then came back with the trainer...must have had to have him wipe his butt.

I think thats about it, nothing exciting at all...just another day of less than mediocre basketball.

To emulate the real thing he took the hot dog out of the bun and refused to put any condiments on it.

The Milwaukee Bucks have signed Celtic mascot Lucky the Leprachaun to a 5 year $70 million contract after he mascot made a half court shot the on third try.

Said Herb Kohl "We're very happy to have Lucky aboard and hope that his 3 point shooting and exuberance on and off the court as well as a little help from his name can lead us to the playoffs." Does Herb Kohl think this is a publicity stunt? "Absolutely not. We are very confident in Lucky's abilities as a player. We think he will do great."

When Andrew Bogut was asked to comment he replied "Great, another guy to take shots away from me. As leader of this team I should be getting more shots and the team built around me." When asked why he still could not make a jump shot or free throw Bogut quickly ended the interview.

Mo Williams was all for the signing. "Yeah I'm fine with it because he's not on a rookie contract. If he was, man we would have some problems right now."

Michael Redd seemed to be for it too. He plans on taking Lucky under his wing. "I'm going to teach him how to shoot halfcourt shots right after the buzzer to make it look like you want it to go in but so it doesn't actually hurt your field goal percentage." Asked about his free throw shooting. "For a guard he's not a good free throw shooter. I just hope I can give him a kiss when I shoot free throws to see if the luck rubs off on me."

When Bobby Simmons and Dan Gadzuric were asked to comment they were very angry. "This guy is making more than us? What has he proven in the NBA?" The locker room then busted into laughter for a good two minutes.

Coach Larry Krystkowiak supports the signing as well. "I know it took him three attempts to make the half court shot Krystkowiak replied. but a few more feet to the left and right respectively and he would have been 3-3 on those half court shots."

 Nice.

The other mascots were pretty entertaining. Our other team's mascot was there. He kept shaking his crotch at women. Very amusing. With about 3 mins left all of the mascots got into their puffy costumes, and were running around. I might be a simpleton, but I thought it was humorous.

Who do you guys think would have won in a game of the Bucks vs. Bango and his mascot friends?

I'd put money on the mascots to not only win the game, but to cover the spread as well (I'd assume they'd be favored)

That inflatable view blocking obstacle course that carnies might have fooled them into renting seemed particularly unfortunate because they had an entertaining contest of in-state mascots using their own props in a previous year.
