Jerel McNeal: Where does he stand in the draft?

hes the best player on Marquette. is he a late first rounder/early second round or is he a late second round? if he stays one more yr, i think he could really elevate his value. i could c him as a back up sg (Juan Dixon kinda guy, but better) in the NBA or a team try to convert him to a pg. either way. i think he would be a solid player in the NBA. also how much has his big east tourney play and ncaa tourney play helped his draft status?

stats for big east tourney and ncaa tourney (5 games)
23.2 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 2.0 apg

season stats (35 games)
14.9 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 3.5 apg

Im not sure where he would go in the draft but I do know the Bucks could use his defense. Right now he would probably be a better NBA player than Dan Gadzuric and Awvee Storey.

Early to mid second round. I think he is the type of player that could be helped or hurt by what he measures out at.

If both he and James stay another year, Marquette has a chance to do some real damage in the tourney next year.

As a marquette fan, I wish he would not enter the draft this year. If james, mcneal, and matthews stay just one more year, they could finally do something special next year.

I don't think he would be taken in the top 45 picks. Unless he seriously develops into a really special player, you don't see many 4 year guards get selected unless they have an overall impressive skill set. Some thought Kam Taylor should have been drafted last year, I could see Mcneal being in the same boat as him. If he were to get drafted he would probably go straight to the DL (development league).

Andrew34r...how did you make the obama harris graphic that you have in your avatar? Can you post the full size pick? I'm currently making a full size one in photoshop with Putin, but am doing it the hard way...

Thanks

I dont really think that if Mcneal, James, and Mathews return, that they are going to be any better next year, without any bigs were just going to see the same thing as this year and last year, Fitz and Barro are crap. Back to the topic at hand, i see Mcneal as a mid to late 2nd rounder.

Honestly, as inconsistent as Barro is and as weak as Fitzgerald is inside, it's going to be difficult to replace their contributions. Barro was the only threat to block shots and Fitzgerald was about the only guy any of our guards could count on to knock down an outside shot when they penetrated and kicked.

I agree with Lynch and Wade. Some people just assume that by staying an extra year a player will get better and the team as well. Look at D. James. Has he really improved that much since his freshman year?

Undrafted, terrible ball handler, not a point guard.

He might get drafted in the 2nd round by a team that just watched his last 6 games. But he is a tweener guard who is a streaky shooter. I really don't see him being more than a D-league player.

He plays better defense than mo or redd. And he plays with great intensity. He'll be in the NBA, just may not be drafted.
