Just trying to get a heat check for who everyone would like to see as next years Bucks coach.



I think Carlisle and Skiles are two candidates who with a little persuasion and a decent contract offer we would actually have a shot to get to come here.

Both have coached in the midwest before (Carlisle twice actually) and if Herbie wanted to go the route he could hire another former Buck player as Scott Skiles was actually drafted by the Bucks in 1986.

I would be happy with either Carlisle or Skiles.

LK is in over his head and Brown is not an ideal candidate for me.

This discussion reminds me massively of the Packers in the 1980's......all the fans cared about was whether we could lure "Parcells" or "Forest Gregg" away to be our coach.

Things never changed until the team got a new organizational leader in Ron Wolf.

Depends on what direction the roster takes. If we have a young rebuilding roster, I'd be ok with Skiles, Van Gundy, Carlisle. If we ship out the picks and Yi for more veterans and want to win now, I'd be all about Larry Brown.

This team reminds me of the Chris Ford Bucks. We already had Ray and Glenn and just needed a decent coach to put it together.

I guess that's why I'm not on the 'blow up the team' bandwagon. I view the players as raw materials that need to be utilized correctly. Going iso with Redd at crunch time time and time again is idiotic, and Michael certainly deserves much of the blame for being so anti-clutch. But either LK is calling those plays or LK is failing to punish Redd for not running the plays he is calling.

We need someone with authority who is respected by NBA players and has the stones to sit Redd when he's chucking or Bogut when he's missing bunnies/FTs. Not to mention bring a little excitement back to the BC. That's why I voted Brown.

I voted for Brown, but I'd prefer JVG. Either would be a vast improvement.

JVG, Carlisle, Skiles, I'd be ecstatic with any of the three. Especially JVG who knows how to play with his big men.

McGlocklin. We need someone who gives a dam about this town and this organization.

I don't really care. I'm much more concerned with who the GM will be.

Even Doc Rivers has been made to appear like he's able to coach this season. Give Larry K some legit talent and I doubt even he could screw it up.

The NBA is littered with coaches that look great one season and terrible the next and geniuses again down the line. Nothing changes except the guys on the court.

That's very true, but a few guys have proven to be better than the pack at specific things like turnarounds (Larry Brown), and putting a team over the top (Jackson).

You're absolutely right that the GM is more important though.

If we could keep Larry Brown on life support long enough to change the losing, no-defense playing mentality then I would be ecstatic if he were our coach. But since he would most likely be hospitalized for at least a few months a year, I say go with the next best in JVG.

Yeah, I know there's plenty of support for JVG, but I left him off the list since someone said he has made it clear he won't work for the Bucks after what Herb did to Stan.



BTW, who is the one who wants to hire another first timer?

I agree and disagree. There's no question the Bucks need a strong person in charge as the GM making decisions. However, the one time the Bucks achieved a strong measure of success was when they had a legit head coach with proven credentials. So if the latter can't happen I'd at least like to see the former.

My vote would be for Van Gundy but I realize he'll likely never want to work here. So I'd be fine with Carlisle or Skiles. Both would be major upgrades over the current head coach and the last three the team has had.

I think Skiles or Brown would be great. Carlisle wouldn't be bad, but I like Brown or Skiles better. However, I like JVG best but as previously stated he's said he will refuse to work for the Bucks because of what happened with Stan.

Between Skiles and Brown, I'd probably go with Skiles. I think he would be able to turn Mo into a little better point guard (Skiles was a fantastic point guard in his own right) but he's also a tough coach when it comes to defense. I think he could turn our defense around and improve it. Then let our new GM work the roster around a bit and get better SG/SF and we'd be alot better off than we are now.

my problem with skiles is that i think cv's gonna become pretty ineffective when he can't see because of the sweat in his eyes
