Looks like this was released today. 11 of the 20 players chosen for the Bucks' 40th anniversary team will be back in town for the ceremony including: Oscar Robertson, Vin Baker, Big Dog Robinson, Brian Winters, Marques Johnson, among others.

Should be a nice ceremony and take our minds off the horrible season.

Good to see Eddie Doucette is coming back. I used to listen to him A LOT when they only televised 12 games a year.

Wow, I would love to go see it! Blast from the past for me. Seeing the players and Eddie D. would be wonderful! I may just have to spend some money on this one and take my son!

My dad always raves about Eddie Douchette.

Glad to see Big Dog will be slipping out of oblivion. He was my favorite player growing up. I loved how Sparky used the old "Bark-o-Meter" as a reason that Dog should have his number retired. The crowd hasn't gotten as loud since Dog, and the Bark-o-Meter, left. (lol)

There was actually some talk earlier this month about Glenn possibly joining the Gary Steelheads, an IBL team. The mentioned March 20th as a date to know by, and since it passed, I'm guessing it's not happening. Bummer.

Former No. 1 NBA draft pick Glenn "Big Dog" Robinson, who hasn't played for three seasons but never officially announced his retirement, may be returning to his hometown.

"I'm not kidding," Spon said. "We'll see. If he's in shape, we're gonna sign him. Or outta shape, c'mon now, an NBA guy like that -- I'll take half of Glenn Robinson in shape.

"Big Dog don't need the money. He just wants to come out and play."

Eddie was fantastic. He left because his son was ill and needed a better climate (San Diego). They had an Eddie Doucette Dictionary to keep track of all of his colorful terms.

He had great nicknames for players too. Cement Mixer (Dick Cunningham) Mr. Clean (Toby Kimball).

Here are Eddie's own words on how he came up with some of his phrases:

Good stuff MD! I loved listening to Eddie. I thought "the cement mixer" was a great handle for Dick C. I also loved "The Greyhound" and his "Pancake jumper."

I am very excited for this. My only concern is with the all you can eat promotion that my view will be blocked for this whole thing by all the fat asses going to the concession stand to get more hot dogs and nachos. It is usually pretty bad at normal games...I cant imagine what its going to be like Friday.

I am not pleased at all that they are making Oscar Robertson share his night with the fan voted 40th Anniversary team ceremony.

These should have been two separate nights. These things needed to have been planned much better than they were. Total amateur hour. It is embarassing. They should have figured this out a long time ago and had two separate nights for these things. Oscar is the second greatest player in Bucks history, one of the best players in the history of the NBA, one of the 3 best PGs of all time, if not THE best PG of all time. What a joke. Give him his own night. And of course separate nights would have meant increased total attendance for the season, but the Bucks are so inept that they don't even know how to properly milk stuff like this for attendance.

And then they follow this slap in the face with a slap in the face to Jon McGlocklin. The guy is one of our all-time great players, and is someone who has been with this franchise since its existence. Our mascot is named after an exaltation of his jump shot. If one man can embody an entire franchise, McGlocklin embodies the Bucks.

So what do we do for his ceremony?
We make sure that no one will be able to see it unless they are at the game or have NBA League Pass. With the other ceremonies, people that watched the game on FSN got to watch the ceremonies at halftime. The Friday April 4th game is not on FSN. And it happens to be the same day of Brewers Opening Day at home that afternoon, so not many people will care about the Bucks game that night.

For Moncrief's ceremony, the ads on the jumbotron and around the Bradley Center the game prior to his ceremony game have his name spelled wrong (Moncreif was the spelling used) but despite being the third greatest player in Bucks history, no one notices this mistake until fans (including myself) start making calls to complain about it.
And they schedule it for a day when Senator Kohl can't be there, which is a big slap in the face.

For Kareem's ceremony, they screw up the banner unveiling. And then the band prematurely cuts off his speech. Total amateur hour, again.

For Winter's ceremony, Kohl's incompetence when it comes to running this team finally caught up to him and he was booed by half the crowd. This sucks for Winters to have his ceremony sullied by booing. But in fairness to the fans who did boo, Herb Kohl is such a chicken about exposing himself to the fans there, that their only opportunity to express themselves is at something like this. So it is ultimately Kohl's fault.
If he would address the fans at other times, or give them a chance to express their displeasure to him (the Heat's Mickey Arrison for example has town hall style meetings from time to time for the fans) then they would give him a break and not boo him at ceremonies like this, for the sake of the player being honored.

I'm guessing Kohl gets booed pretty noticiably at the next two Friday ceremonies too. That hadn't happened before, but our efforts on this forum, on talk radio, and through the bag revolt directed at Kohl three nights earlier seems to have emboldened many fans to join in expressing anger to Kohl. That always used to be taboo because of the whole "Well, at least Kohl keeps the team in Milwaukee" mentality.

They also screwed up the banner unveil at one of the other ceremonies besides Kareem's. There was a spotlight problem and they weren't prepared with one of the other spotlights, so everybody just had to sit there for like 2 minutes in awkward suspense, until they finally had to put the house lights on. I can't remember if this was for Moncrief's ceremony or for Bridgeman's.

If that was at Bridgeman's, then the only ceremony that will have been handled correctly was the Bob Lanier ceremony. That's a horrible percentage of success. But then again, we are used to the Bucks having horrible percentages of success under the regime of Senator Kohl.
