I saw this trade idea mentioned on the Dallas board.

DAL trades:
Jason Terry
Devean George (S&T)
2008 1st Round Pick

MIL trades:
Michael Redd

No way


For a late first round pick?

Why would we want a resigned Devean George?

Why would we want Jason Terry when we have Mo Williams?

You're right though, Royal Ivey backing up Mo is a lot better than one of the best 6th men in the game in Terry. And, you know, that small 1-2 guard combo of Harris/Terry didn't succeed or anything.

My first inclination was absolutely not, but now that I'm thinking about it, we might be able to put together a pretty fun running team if we drafted Love and Tyler Smith, started Sessions and Mo and brought Terry off the bench. More intriguing than I initially thought, but I still say no.

The fact that their pick will likely be 13th was the first thing I thought of.

But despite being a top 6th man, Terry's owed about 40 million over the next four years. Yuck.

I'd do this though:

Redd
Gadzuric

for

Kidd
(13th pick)

Since the Mavs do not have a 2008 first round pick, I would say this trade is impossible.

Nets have their first (Harris trade).

Mo/Terry would not work like Harris/Terry since Mo does not play defense like Devin Harris


Mo would be one of the best 6th men in the league if this Bucks squad wasn't so devoid of talent that we could afford to put Mo on the bench where he should be and have a real PG starting.


EDIT: I also wouldn't refer to Devin Harris as small when he's 6'3 and Mo is 6'1, but really is probably closer to 6'0

Ah. I wouldn't do it either way, just because Terry has four more years left on his deal, even more years than Redd.

The more I think about this the more I love Dallas a trade partner. Kidd would probably hate coming here, though (does he have the right to refuse a deal?).

Draft a BPA at #7 and #13. We could fill both backcourt spots with guys like Gordon at #7 and Westbrook at #13. Let them sit and learn for a year and take over in '09.

Why would Dallas give us Kidd and their pick for Redd and a horrible contract, when they gave up Harris and two picks for Kidd?

Now that Harris is gone, Dallas is not a good trading partner for MIL to unload Redd.


But people get stuck on the fact that it would be just b/c they signed Redd to an offer sheet so it must mean that they would take on Redd and his remaing bloated contract.


The truth of the matter is there is no real good trading partner for Redd.


The only way we can get equal or superior talent would be to take on damaged goods like we thought T-Mac was, but now apparently he's woken up again with the loss of Yao and is probably not going anywhere.

They thought Kidd might actually be a good fit in Dallas (he's not). I don't have any doubt that if they could flip Kidd for Redd right now they'd do it and go back to their old half-court style.

I just don't agree, especially since you have them throwing in their pick as well, which they need because they are short on rotation players right now.

Plus, Kidd only has one year left, I don't know if they would be looking to add Redd and Gadzuric on top of what they are already paying Dirk/Howard/Terry.

The first thing I thought was they have a uber-rich owner that doesn't ming spending so long as his team is a contender. They're about to land in the lotto.

This is an intriguing deal IMO.

Terry makes a lot less than Redd and if that draft pick equaled Collison, I'd be all over this.

I'd want the salary filler to be an expiring.

Whether I'd keep Mo around as sixth man, I don't know. But a Mo-Terry-Collison guard trio, while crazy undersized would also allow us to play a Golden State type offense.

Mark Cuban 5 years ago, yes.

But he has reeled back and not spended as foolishly as you are implying.

Letting Steve Nash walk is the prime example of that.

He is committed to winning, but also committed to running the Mavericks like a business, not a money pit.

I have no interest in keeping Mo Williams around, but Terry would be an OK fit here since he plays defense. I'm not sure I like committing to him as our point guard, but if there's a PG we really like at 13 then I'd be for it.

I'd also be real interested in a Jason Kidd trade, as he would be great towards changing our selfish and lazy team attitude. He wants to play on a winner which is a huge problem, but the East is so much easier than the West and Dallas isn't that close to winning a championship that theoretically he might be OK with it.
